I took a graceful dismount but because it's fixed gear the pedals don't just magically stop when you do. One of the metal teeth got me real good!
Anyway, I'm currently soaking my beaten ass in the ocean. Go Broncos.
fuck man
that sounds super gnarly
get well soon
keep the wound clean

At MiL's beach house. Looks like we have a roosting colony of bats in the roof space. Sealed off all obvious points of entry and made a bat escape flap but no bats used it last night.
Looks like they are getting in and out some other spot. You know they can get through an 8mm hole???
It's driving me a little crazy. I'm a bit obsessed. But no idea how I'm going to get rid of them. They are protected.
Is it wrong that I'm thinking of buying a pet carpet python and accidentally releasing it in the roof space?
put some LED lights lights in there maybe it will scare them away
maybe a jobsite light

Taking the Tesla in for a slow leak in the back tire. They’ll probably just replace the tire like last time, which was $600. Our insurance through the lease company will pay for it. What a racket.

went over to jimmy johns for lunch yesterday and the next block down there were a ton of emergency vehicles. like way more than necessary for a normal city mayhap
found out today that a guy either fell (was working on scaffolding) or jumped to his death from 4 floors up
I have fallen before about 15-20 feet and i remember how slow my descent was. I had enough time to watch my friends start to sprint down the hill (was on a rope swing) and could hear them all start to panic as i was doing a back flip in the air and then a back smacker on the ground. thankfully i hit a bunch of soft soil, leaves and sticks (though i did bounce a couple of feet in the air upon impact). i remember how everything was in slo-mo as i fell and thinking fuck this is going to hurt.
falling off a building with nothing but concrete below you gives you enough time to realize you are more than likely not going to survive. i cant imagine the conversations going on in your head when you know your survival is non existant

Not sure the fixed gear thing makes a difference though I suppose it could be the cause of getting slashed in the right situation but I have definitely done this many times on bikes with gears.
I was just looking at a scar from doing this like 5 or 6 years ago. I was on mountain bike trails with no rear suspension and hit a rock which kicked my feet off the pedals.
I changed my pedals. Not cuz of this but just cuz I hated the ones I had in general. The fact they were surrounded in serrated blades was definitely a con tho.

It’s cool you guys are still learning bike riding in your 30s.
