I used to listen to G Gordon Liddy’s radio show. Mostly because his voice was hilarious and it was fun to listen to. Can’t say as I agreed with a lot of his viewpoints, but he was entertaining. THE G-MAN!

Sort of related to this and relevant for this thread, I saw a recent clip of a very despondent Fuentes talking about the Superbowl thing, proclaiming that the right is cooked if they make every issue a culture war issue, and that the halftime show was a good example of that because the alternative they offered (the TPUSA show with Kid Rock) was obviously much lamer.

And that the right's inability to move people with art will be their downfall.

"If the best the white right has to offer as the sad dying gasp of white culture is some white trash country-hip-hop artist from Detroit from the 90s, people are going with liberal hegemony."

In general, the right is so much more interesting than the left (or what passes for the left these days). The left is a slowly decaying monolith with a surface level ideology that can be gleaned from watching the Super Bowl halftime show or the Grammys. But the right has neocons, MAGA cultists, libertarians, white nationalists, billionaire tech aristocrats, Israel First evangelicals, manosphere bros, conspiracy theorists, esoteric philosophers, trad luddites, grifters, autistics and schizos. All fighting with each other more than they fight the left. It's fascinating.

But I think this Trump era is finally burning out. It will probably revert back to straight right-neoliberalism soon after orange man is dead. They'll be trying to resuscitate the recently dead globalist world order because its "traditional". Conservatism is just progressivism a few decades behind, after all.

You're the kind of guy who loves B movies and hates art films. We don't share taste and I don't know how I could change your opinion but your taste is certifiably bad so yeah.

I don’t really buy this framing. It feels true if you mostly experience "the left" through mass culture and "the right" through its weirdest internet subcultures but that’s a sampling issue. The left has classic libs, democratic socialists, Marxists (about 700 different types), anarchists, anti-authoritarian leftists, institutional liberals, labor-first organizers, identity-skeptical class reductionists, climate absolutists, degrowth people, technocratic policy wonks, mutual-aid types, accelerationists, anti-imperialists who hate each other’s guts, etc. They fight constantly and I'm sure you've seen it, over markets, the state, speech, borders, technology, reform vs revolution, abolitionism, sex work, what even counts as justice, a bunch of shit. The right is funnier to watch for reasons that I think are obvious though

As for guilty pleasure conservatives, or at least an artist whose work actually carries some conservative ideological weight, maybe S. Craig Zahler for me. I don't feel guilty about liking his movies though
