Favorite Intros
stone roses - I wanna be adored
the baseline through the whole song is amazing but as the fading in intro...leading to the drums....
Pearl Jam - Jeremy
the singular bass opening the song sets an ominous tone of what is to come
these are the two that pop to mind but I will add others...

Re: Favorite Intro's
Intro is possibly my favorite couple of minutes in rock music. I love the guitar tone, I love the bass cueing the shift into the second intro, I love Steve Shelley's sticks, I love how this song effortlessly traces a line from dream pop to hardcore.

Deep Purple Perfect Strangers - the heavy organ of jon lord to start things off giving way to Ian Paice on drums and Richie Blackmore playing that sweet guitar

The Cure - Pictures of You - so haunting. the guitar and drums really play off each other at first an then the guitar kind of takes over. then throw in the keyboard?

Paint It Black has a killer intro that makes you practically hold your breath for the kick in.

At the risk of sounding cheesy, I've always been a fan of the intro to EV's Invincible too.

Re: Favorite Intros
I also think that is a great intro. For an artist that spent his career being pegged as too serious and brooding, for him to open the album with something so irreverent set the tone for a looser and more open and fun album in a lot of places.Higgs wrote:At the risk of sounding cheesy, I've always been a fan of the intro to EV's Invincible too.

Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills - not sure if there is a better drum intro with only Dr Feelgood in the same stratosphere
