Any Opeth fans here?
I recently saw them live in Sacramento and thought they were incredible. Their mix of gothic, progressive, psychedelic and death metal is absolutely not for everyone, but they do have some very accessible stuff. My favorites at the moment are "The Grand Conjuration" "The Drapery Falls" and "Deliverance."

I went to their concert at Red Rocks specifically to see Devin Townsend and Gojira open, and then left a few songs into their headline set. They're not aggressively bad or anything I just find them kinda boring. I know this is a sacrilegious take.

I used to love them in the 90s early 2000s. The run from Morningrise through to Blackwater park is incredible. They then went a fair bit up their own arses.
I still check them out but always return to those mentioned.
Give Still Life a blast. The Moor and Moonlight Vertigo are so so good.
Or Black Rose Immortal if you have a spare 20mins

Thanks- I'm still getting to know their discography, and since it changes styles at times, which parts of it I prefer.LetMeSleep wrote:I used to love them in the 90s early 2000s. The run from Morningrise through to Blackwater park is incredible. They then went a fair bit up their own arses.

Love opeth, the Steven Wilson albums are all masterpieces imo, still life too.
Love heritage too for it’s left turn, amazing production too on that one.
It’s been diminishing returns since unfortunately and I can’t stand the jethro guy on the last one but I’m sure they still deliver live, amazing players too.
That tone on Mikael’s guitar is so tasty.
