As for Oscar nominees I’ve only watched Sinners, One Battle and Bugonia. They were all interesting enough to keep me engaged but each was a struggle to get through. There’s so few feel good movies made now. I did think it was funny when Bugonia ended
Spoiler: show
with the the earth being flat.

Absolutely did. Over several years, not this month. Think the top Iranian movies are amongst the best in the world.

Good point.

I most look forward to seeing One Battle After Another.

I’ve only seen about 1/3 of what I’ve planned to see from 2025. Will get back to it very soon. Have 225 movies ready to go.

Oscars are always interesting to me. Doubt there will be many surprises this year.

I could see that movie going either way for you. But I'd love your thoughts if/when you do see it. I'm a theater nerd, so I'm more prone to appreciate it more than others, perhaps. I thought it was so good!

I think you'll appreciate the production design, at least. And it's sexy AF.

I was so pumped about Marty Supreme until those articles about the Safties came out and now I just can't get it up for that one. But Bugonia and It Was Just an Accident are high on my list to see.

Having now watched all the 2026 Best Picture nominees I care to see, my final ranking of those films is

1. The Secret Agent
2. One Battle After Another
3. Marty Supreme
4. Bugonia
5. Sentimental Value
6. F1
7. Sinners
8. Hamnet

It'll be a long while til I get to Train Dreams.
I will never watch Frankenstein.
