Think Even Flow is about a top 100 Pearl Jam song. Mid tier song on Ten.

Even Flow, Alive, Black, Jeremy. Those four songs changed my approach to music listening forever. After hearing them I no longer wanted music to play in the background while I did some other activity. I wanted music to be the activity, similar to reading a book or watching a movie, only better.
I don’t like voting against any of those 4 songs.

Nice to see everyone coming around on Even Flow again. I'm old enough to remember when it was considered to be the "piss break" song.

I'm probably basing that on one or two posts I once saw on RM, but it's true!blueviper wrote:I’ve never heard this.Farmer John wrote:Nice to see everyone coming around on Even Flow again. I'm old enough to remember when it was considered to be the "piss break" song.

Yes, there was an RM era where folks here would complain about it (a lot of it being MC playing it too fast), and it being the piss break song in the set whilst us high and mighty fans waiting diligently for the Strangest Tribe breakout.Farmer John wrote:I'm probably basing that on one or two posts I once saw on RM, but it's true!blueviper wrote:I’ve never heard this.Farmer John wrote:Nice to see everyone coming around on Even Flow again. Re: DaveKfinal redux: Black vs. Even Flow
after the first couple tours with Matt, even flow became a struggle to listen to live
the tempo was insanely fast
it lost its groove and character
you used to be able to make out interesting details in mike's solos
instead the speed just rendered the whole thing a wall of noise
original dave krusen even flow, nice and slow, had character, groove, was in no hurry to get anywhere
you just chilled in the groovy pocket
Original Dave K even flow was built for grooving
Mattspeed even flow was built for urination

Re: DaveKfinal redux: Black vs. Even Flow
I believe some setlist relayers would literally post "Piss Break" here on the board when Even Flow started up.liebzz wrote:Yes, there was an RM era where folks here would complain about it (a lot of it being MC playing it too fast), and it being the piss break song in the set whilst us high and mighty fans waiting diligently for the Strangest Tribe breakout.Farmer John wrote:I'm probably basing that on one or two posts I once saw on RM, but it's true!blueviper wrote:I’ve never heard this.Farmer John wrote:Nice to see everyone coming around on Even Flow again. Re: DaveKfinal redux: Black vs. Even Flow
Even flow works at all speeds for me. It isn't the most emotional, cathartic, or anthemic song of Pearl Jam's but even more so than Porch captures the live experience of Pearl Jam from the whole ensemble of players and crowd. Remember this from first seeing the music video to the last time I saw it live.
Also the piss break is clearly the encore break, gives you a sense of urgency to get back and not miss anything.

Re: DaveKfinal redux: Black vs. Even Flow
Is it true that Pearl Jam changed the ticket availability for ten club members from seniority to random because fans in the first row were doing things like opening newspapers while Even Flow was played?
