It's in my top 10 of the year and yet still I basically agree. I expected to like it more than I did, so it does somehow feel disappointing.
You two seem to have similar taste...
Then you really aren't paying attention

Ingrid Goes West.

Second rewatch maybe? i love this movie. Its even more timely now. Aubrey Plaza is wonderful here. Oscar worthy. I miss how good Elisabeth Olsen was.

Woof!
That and throw in Emily the Criminal for a sweet Aubrey double feature.

I just watched Blade Runner 1982 for the first time. I don’t know how that one slipped by me this whole time.

I’ve been just diving head first into movies again. I’ve watched these within the last few weeks:

A Clockwork Orange (rewatch after 20+ yrs)
Barry Lyndon
Eyes Wide Shut
The Lighthouse
The Northman
Copland
Blue Ruin (rewatch)
Napoleon
Eddington
One Battle After Another
The Witch
The Place Beyond The Pines
Blade Runner

I’ll be keeping a closer eye on this thread and am looking for recommendations.

Have you seen BR 2049? A lot of people prefer it to the OG. It's fantastic.

Blade Runner 2049 is a bottom 10 worst movie of all time.

That's a bit much but I don't think it's anywhere near as good as the original.

Watching that one on Imax was fucking great. The score damn it. The LA scene at the casino. The ending. I love it.

I'm gonna take a stab at an LV bottom 10:

1. Avengers: Endgame
2. Interstellar
3. Mad Max: Fury Road
4. Promising Young Woman
5. Les Miserables
6. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
7. Blade Runner 2049
8. Fellini 8 1/2
9. Tomorrowland
10. Gone Girl

lol 8 1/2 wtf??? Fellini is one of my guys

I don't really have a set bottom 10. Blade Runner 2049, Foxcatcher, Gone Girl, and Looking for Mr. Goodbar would probably be on it. I consider those latter three to be genuinely evil and immoral movies. Beyond that, I can't narrow it down to 10.

I think I knew you liked Fellini, but "hates the most acclaimed work of an overall favored director" is the kind of quirk I've been primed to expect from you so I took a swing. Whoops

Genuinely curious about what makes Foxcatcher evil and immoral

I think making fictionalized about real people who are still alive is already ethically dicey and needs to be handled carefully, and insinuating that Mark Schultz was having a homosexual relationship with his brother's murderer is pretty fucking cruel and unethical. Schultz himself has publicly condemned the movie and rightly so.

I remember listening to your pod about Gone Girl.

Man, I don't think I've heard people hate something as much as y'all hated that movie.
