Gonna be "that guy" here. I can deal with and love many and varied styles and types of music, and I actively enjoy stoner stuff specifically, but my god am I totally unable to appreciate anything at all with scream-o style vocals.

This is what they meant in my specific case when they spoke about "turning into your parents".

No. Just no. I can't do it. The music is ok, great in parts actually, but the screamo just has me reaching for a cough lolly in sympathy.

I can certainly be "obstinately attached to a belief or opinion" but never (OK, OK, rarely) solely because of someone's belonging to a specific group or class.

I think "set in my ways and kinda grumpy" fits, gonna stick with it.

And everyone "likes what they like". That's a boring arse cop out.

I'm always open to music, whatever the style. Those harsh metal vox are a real problem though. Oh well, plenty of stuff to still check out.
