I got 3 for Milwaukee, my oldest daughters favorite band is Cage The Elephant, I've never seen the Strokes. So this works out great, taking my middle daughter also. Should be fun. It will be both of their first concerts.

Yeah I just popped into the sale when it started out of curiosity. Cincinnati was over $200 per ticket for back of the seated section. That is insane. I guess when the crazy people are done knocking off insurance CEOs they’ll start Blowing up concert venues next.

Also, kinda weird to quote someone saying tickets are too expensive to chime in and say you bought 3. Not sure how that relates unless to say, well not too expensive for me!

I ve been looking for shows in NYC and dude, i was surprised on how expensive some of them are....Bruce Springsteen had ¨cheap¨ ones for like $300.
Even the Knicks were like $400.

And then you had very cool small shows for 20 or 30 bucks.

In all fairness? I bought several Springsteen tickets for like $150 when they went on sale. It’s a matter of luck and timing in New York.

It was also half empty so far so im not sure whats going to happen closer to the date.

Not only are those small shows actually affordable, but I’ve found that even when I do go to the big shows, there’s kind of a ceiling for much I’ll enjoy them. The artist you’re seeing and the material they’re playing is ultimately only part of the equation.

Last year I saw Acid Bath twice. They’re maybe my favorite band of all time. They haven’t played live in 30 years. Hearing those songs live was incredible and I’m very grateful to have that experience. And yet…would I say those shows were a better experience than seeing Teen Mortgage or 54 Ultra at tiny clubs? No, I wouldn’t. Those latter shows were much more fun and exhilarating experiences even if the bands don’t mean as much to me as Acid Bath does. And those AB shows weren’t even huge shows! But big enough to affect the experience in a negative way, IMO.

I find it depends wholly on the show - different bands and experiences call for different sized rooms. I’ve seen bands play like they are in a giant stadium in a small space and it sounded bad and awkward, and I have also seen bands that have small room energy in a big arena and it’s similarly weird.

I think generally it is a more intimate experience in a smaller space, and that’s typically a good thing. Not trying to disagree, but also not trying to see the modern E Street Band, with 17 people in the band, trying to play to my living room.

I think part of why I feel this way is because I don’t really care about the stage production element or crowd experience component of concerts. I’m very much there for the performance, so the smaller the venue and the closer I can be, the better.

yeah for me it it also depends on the venue.

Smaller shows in shitty venues is something i dont really care these days. Its mostly about what happens with that artist and what that music suited for, but i do love huge shows with great crowds interactions too, specially if you can feel how that energy translates into whatever they are playing.

I don’t think I would rank any “big” show I’ve been to among even the top 10 concerts I’ve ever attended. Not to mention how much of a logistical hassle they are.

I also dont quite go for the production design but there has been moments were it definitely enhanced whatever i was listening because you could see the idea or theme behind it.

Rosalia, NIN, Taylor Swift are espectacular examples of this.

I've lost most of my urge to see concerts period, but I could be swayed to go see something small and low-key if the vibe, price, and location were right. But I'm confident in saying that arena/stadium shows are a thing of the past for me. That type of experience just isn't what I want to spend my spare time and money on at this point in my life.
