Swallowed Whole would be an incredible song if it was recorded for Yield. Alas, it is one of the songs Lightning Bolt really harms with its antiseptic sound.

Gonna See My Friend is my Breakerfall. Fun riff, great energy, rollicking start to the album. The perfect song to kick off Backspacer. Easyish vote.

There are things that bug me about Gonna See My Friend, Mike's guitar part primarily, but I'm still pretty fond of it.

Mike's guitar (in the intro specifically) feels like such a hacky, stock guitar part, I think the song would be more enjoyable if you were to just hear Ed, Jeff and Matt blasting through the basic arrangement.
