I just used a trick on my colleagues that I usually use on my dog. When my dog is pre-occupied with something she shouldn't be, I'll sometimes make a weird noise to distract her and she'll look at me and forget the preoccupation. Usually I do a weird gasp or something.

Today my coworkers have been discussing my nemesis's therapy sessions in detail all morning. Two hours into this madness, I just kind of dinged my watch on the side of my desk as I reached for something and it made a loud noise. Not so loud that they commented on it, but enough that it zapped them back into the reality that they exist and should maybe do some work or stfu or something.

Having to deal with an extremely difficult situation at work. I suppose i've done a lot of my part and it's soon to be past any decision making authority I'd have, but my boss is going to be gone on a trip for a few days with apparently zero cell phone access. The management over the main person involved are beyond frustrating to deal with so really hoping this can get resolved before my boss is out, but I have my doubts. Can I retire? AI is supposedly going to take my job anyway eventually
