Going to watch the new Mortal Kombat with a mate tonight.

Guess maybe I should have posted this in the 'What movies will you be watching?' thread

“The Long Walk”
I like mashups, and this one felt like a mashup of Stand By Me & Hunger Games.
I really enjoyed it.

Evolution

It was...ok. Too lightweight and PG to compete with Gremlins or Tremors, but it had a bit of fun, weird vibe at times. I enjoyed the cute monster designs. Too bad it ends with an amorphous blob monster. Hollywood and their lame ass cloud monster trope.

Short Circuit (1986)

Disturbing clanker propaganda. Pretty sure Ally Sheedy wanted to fuck that robot. Her character seemed legitimately mentally challenged. What were we thinking elevating Steve Guttenberg to super star status in the 80s?

I can't tell if it's supposed to be a kids movie or not. There is so much cursing! I don't remember kids movies cussin' so much.

Unofficial Blade Runner sequel. Simple. Straight to the point. Does it's job and gets the fuck out. Approved.

Ice Pirates (1984)

Surprised this was from '84. It's got horrible 1970s sensibilities, but the production values are surprisingly good for a shitty low(ish) budget 80s movie. The humor is extraordinarily cringy and unfunny, but I appreciated the effort that went into this. It's batshit crazy.

Angelica Huston is in this as a sexy sword lady. Very fuckable.

I've been looking at this list (an aggregated list of the 1,000 greatest movies of all time) since I was in college, and I am turning 40 at the end of next year. I'm getting a little bored of not having completed it yet, as there are still 268 movies on the list that I haven't seen.

I'm setting an (ambitious) goal to complete the list by the time I turn forty at the end of next year. The list is going to update one time between now and then, but the changes most years tend to be minimal.

I'll need to average basically three movies a week from the list. May not actually be doable, but I'm going to make a run at it.

If you want to see how much of the list you've seen, maybe try this Letterboxd list or this list on icheckmovies

Yeah. I give a movie my full attention when I look at it, and some of these are three or ten hours long. Plus they tend to be a little more challenging than what I might usually choose to look at to relax. So it might not be an easy task, but I will give it a go

What I'm least looking forward to is probably Diary (1983), 330 minutes of one Israeli man's daily activities with seemingly no connective tissue

What I'm most looking forward to is a harder question because it's not like any of these movies are new discoveries for me. I've always known they were there, I just never got around to looking at them. This will finally force me to watch Kieslowski's ten episode Dekalog, though, so I am looking forward to that
