Young Einstein

Remember when they tried to make Yahoo Serious a thing? I remember being terribly disappointed by this movie when I was 9. Watching it now, I can safely say I was right to be. Terrible, unfunny, joke free movie. Having funny hair and spazzing out is not inherently funny.

Apparently he's homeless now after being kicked out a house he was squatting in.

Nacho Libre

Unfairly maligned I think. And it looks terrific. Jack Black is good when he tries, but that's rare.

War Dogs. A poor man's Lord of War. Jonah Hill was fun to watch, though.

The first week of my quest to complete the aggregated list of the top 1,000 movies over at theyshootpictures.com before I turn 40 is going well. This week I watched the late Chaplin masterpiece Limelight, the early Bresson drama Les Dames du Bois de Boulogne, and the kind-of-annoying-kind-of-funny British comedy Withnail & I. Three random picks, just felt like the right choice in the moment. I also got through the first three of ten episodes of the silent French serial Les Vampires (1915).

Only 265 films to go! And I'm still more than a month away from even being 38 and a half. I can still achieve this goal!

You should start an Essential Studio Albums-style thread to chart your journey

Is that your polite way of asking me not to clutter up this thread with my Anders-style mega-post mini-reviews?

As our resident classic-cinema-fart-sniffer, you are legally obligated to watch and review every pre-1970 film on that list.

Wuthering Heights

Somewhat mixed feelings about this one. Mostly negative. At times I was on board with what it was going for. Was I supposed to dislike the main characters?

This might be the first time that a movie's set design actively made me angry.

set design was awful and sometimes amateurish in its approach.

It felt like the worst AI app at its best.
