Re: Netflix: Punisher
On the screen it said 50 minutes
but holy shit did they pack a lot into those 50 minutes
I thought Ma looked familiar but I couldn't quite place her. Then when I saw the credits I was like holy fuck! they should have had her body guard played by tony danza
I love that they at least show frank getting hurt and he just toughs it out. some of the things that were happening to him were some real world reactions to an absurd situation (laying on the construction scaffolding and seeing what was coming to falling onto the AC Unit[?])
I thought maybe the 400 people trying to kill frank was a bit over the top, like how could a part of town have that many hired killers?
but the real meat and potatoes of it all was how frank is dealing between his military training and dealing with the loss of his family. I never experienced PTSD like the character of the Punisher but jon really portrayed it amazingly. there are so many superlatives that you could use for the raw emotion he was experiencing but I feel like each one would fall short of just how incredible the acting was.

Supposedly, they had to cut filming short so he could be in Spider-man. I think it shows. I would have liked a little more fleshing out. If you're going to bring him into the MCU properly, you need to assume your viewers don't know who the guys in his hallucinations are to him.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Yeah, not really much to it. Unless they’re doing another special or season, there’s a huge unresolved issue.
I’ve read a couple of online reviews that say it’s a perfect lead-in to Spider-Man, but I don’t really see where that’s coming from.

I think this story will lead into a new season, as the Gnucci mom thing needs wrapping up.
There's a theory going around that it was Jean Grey who put the visions of Frank's little girl into his head at the cemetery, which is all based on the assumption that Sadie Sink will play Grey in Brand New Day.

That’s stupid since there is nothing to suggest Jean’s presence in the show at all. If we’d seen some redheaded kid peaking around the corner in a scene or two. An off-camera appearance by a character that hasn’t even been introduced yet is pretty far fetched.

that's throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. I could also as easily said it was the watcher from daredevil sending the image because frank is so important to the universe so he can become cosmic ghost riderwease wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 9:29 pm That’s stupid since there is nothing to suggest Jean’s presence in the show at all. Re: Netflix: Punisher
I watched this today. I’ve never seen any other episodes - just wanted to see the character in action before Spidey. I didn’t love this. Felt like a really cheap and unimaginative John Wick. Watched Gary a week ago - does Bernthal just walk around brooding in hoodies in all his roles? One thing that kept making me laugh was the was the sound of his yell every time he threw himself at a bad guy; it reminded me of Raphael discovering the sewer lair ransacked and Splinter gone in the original movie.wease wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 3:51 pm Yeah, not really much to it.
