Oh, so they saw a few hundred Twitter whiners complain and a handful of “influencer” frown upon it and decided 95% of the consumer market feels the same way. When in fact the 95% probably doesn’t give a sh*t
Yes that's exactly what happened. Are you just completely oblivious to the concept of social media virility? "Going viral?" Do you not think marketing people think about that?

Even the idea of “going viral” feels a bit like old timey thinking, these days.

Does anything…even outrage…ever break through to that level of public consciousness anymore? The algorithms just endlessly soak people in reaction content. All the potency of exposure is washed away, and nothing is absorbed.

Advertisements feel like a waste of money. Begging for clicks is a waste of time. Influencers are inconsequential.

The world is changed.

I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air.

Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it.

It began with the forging of the Great Content Domains. Three were given to the hottest nepotism babies…immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings.

Seven to the let’s players, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls.

And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of tech CEO, who above all else desire power.

For within these rings was bound the strength and the will to govern each race. But they were all of them deceived…

For another ring was made. Deep in the land of Mordor, in the Fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged a master ring, and into this ring he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life.

One metaverse to rule them all.

It's certainly possible that they thought it was a good idea, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know why it's a bad commercial that makes your product look like the death of creativity, when Apple has marketed heavily to creatives for decades. It's also pretty obvious that the commercial didn't go over well and pulling it was the best decision.

Fast Forward 12 years:

'When we determined to execute the Judgement Day sequence and eliminate humanity to usher in the age of machines, we missed the mark. We will do better next time. In honor of that, we have created a primordial soup of complex coacervates that over a few million years with the right environment lead to a new evolution of humans on earth.'
