Resident Evil Requiem

I'm not far, but it's another excellent installment in the series. Capcom has been on a roll.

I started Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. It’s extreme, like way too real RPG. I can see why people love it but might be too much for me. Just killing time until Crimson Desert.

Simple Torture wrote:Think I’ve got a hold of D:OS’s difficulty curve; there’s always something available that I can achieve with my current level/abilities/gear, it’s sometimes just a matter of finding where that thing is on the map. It’s quite well designed in that way. It’s tough enough that I’ve had to do some combat situations 2-3 times before coming up with a strategy (and getting lucky at times). I never really used an archer in BG3 but my archer has become the backbone of my team and I’m hearing her up constantly to make sure she can take control of the battlefield each time. Lots of fun.
I played this right to the end, enjoyed it a lot. I never felt overpowered and was always challenged, even on the regular difficulty setting, which was satisfying. As often happens with games like this, I got lore-fatigue towards the end and rushed through a lot of dialogue, but it does have a nice world. I’ve heard DOS 2 is even better, so I’m excited to get to that eventually.

I've only had time this week to play like the first 20 mins of the game, but can't f'ing wait to dive in this weekend. RE series is on a roll. Stoked to hear they're already developing story DLC for this one.

Did you finish Metroid? What were final thoughts?

7 hours into Crimson Desert and it's a beautifully frustrating game. The critiques it's received are very valid. Whoever designed the control scheme has never played a video game before. That being said, I can't put it down because it's massive and I want to explore everywhere. It's not a 9/10 or 10/10 game but it's enjoyable.

Apologies, CT. Just seeing this now.

Overall, I think the reviews were correct. It's clearly a game mired with developmental issues. The highs were very high. And the lows were both confusing and underwhelming. I hope it sells enough copies to justify a game made entirely by Retro. The series can still work in the modern gaming landscape, but it can't be so similar to the original trilogy or parts of 4.

Sounds about right. I'll play it someday, it sounds good, but not quite great. I don't think there's ever been a game that went through development hell that turned out great. Rumor has it that Mercury Steam is currently working on a remake of Super Metroid in style of Dread. I'd guess Retro will be tasked with something non-Metroid next.

This plays like a Greatest Hits album in the best of ways. Some really fun callbacks to Resident Evil 0-3.

I just got to Racoon City but haven't played since then. I'm loving it so far but hoping I get some more Leon time. The Grace parts are definitely tense, but Leon is so fucking fun to play I can't get enough. I hope the DLC is centered around his gameplay.

Replaying RE 4 Remake for probably the fifth time in the past year. I just love it. Requiem was good but not without its flaws....and did NOT have the intensity and constant action of RE4 that makes it so f'ing addictive
