But how do you know? I don’t hear his voice on Song X and the only credit for Ed in the Mirror Ball liner notes is for him writing additional lyrics on Peace and Love, a song that he clearly can be heard on.

That said, Ed is credited with Oozin' aahs on Bad Religion’s Recipe for Hate and I don’t hear him that album either so I could be wrong.

I know it’s a small issue that doesn’t matter but it’s something I’ve been wondering about since the first time I heard Song X, a song I’ve always loved. Thanks for the input.

You don’t hear him? He’s practically all I hear in that chant.

I don't really hear Ed, either. I think it might just be Brendan O'Brien. He's the only one credited with background vocals on the song.

I’ve been blasting it too. One of my favorite albums ever. Not caring at all if talking about Eddie Vedder on a Pearl Jam forum is weird.

I don't disagree, but why did you post that in this particular thread?

I was surprised, once again, on how good the guitars are, how cool is their tone and also the fucking groove man. Jeff is killing it and you can already feel the chemistry with Jackie here.

I enjoyed Scenery so fucking much.

Not sure on Act Of Love but in addition to Peace & Love he's definitely on I'm The Ocean. Fairly sure it's in the liner notes, but you can hear his treated vocals on the outro.

Finally got to listen to this on vinyl today. What a fucking record.

It's funny how I really thought I wasn't as familiar with it but I knew every song really well and kept getting excited when the next one came on. I guess I listened to this thing when it came out way more than I thought I had.

Anyway, glad to add it to the collection.

Ed is vocals on act of love and peace and love.

I never considered him on song x or im the ocean. Except he is credited as piano on I'm the ocean.

Thought he had a backing track on Downtown?

I've had to dig out my original copy because I could have sworn the liner notes specified which tracks Ed guested on, hence why I was positive he was only on Peace and Love and I'm The Ocean. But nope... Just says he does backing vocals. Blown my mind a bit as I'm now listening to Act Of Love and Song X and I DO think I can hear him... But I'm 100% sure about I'm The Ocean - I can only assume I read about it in a contemperaneous interview or article.

So whenever there’s an occasion of the core Mirrorballers singing in unison on this record, we’re assuming Ed must be in there too.

Except Ed fucked off to tour the country in a van with Mike Watt during this time, and this thing was cut mostly live. It’s Peace and Love, and probably Act of Love, and that’s it.

I don't even think Jeff and Stone do any background vocals on the album. I know they do live, but on the album i think it's all Brendan and Neil. Plus those Ed bits.
