It has been many years since I've seen 2010: The Year We Make Contact. I may do that tonight.

2010 is pretty good. Very beautiful visually, as most Peter Hyams movies are.

Midsommar also made me cry (because of how bad it was)

The Angelika is doing a David Lynch retrospective over the next few weeks. I've never seen Lost Highway in a theater so I bough a ticket to see it tomorrow morning at 10:40 am.

Also considering seeing Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces (which I've never seen) in a couple weeks.

I rewatched Lost Highway recently and kind of hated it. Used to be my favorite Lynch movie and now it's my least favorite

I re-watched Lost Highway at the theatre last year as part of one of those Lynch retrospectives and loved it as much as ever. My favorite Lynch almost certainly

It's never been my favorite Lynch. And I don't expect this theatrical viewing to necessarily change that, but I do love the movie. And I'm hoping, since I've never seen it in a theater, and it's been at least 15 years since I've seen it, that something new will be illuminated.

Hopefully, I don't have LV's experience. *fingers crossed*

I saw that one in the theater at 14 years old because of the NIN soundtrack and had no fucking clue what was happening.

This is the first piece of Lynch art that I've revisited since he passed. It was pretty emotional for me for that reason.

There were only four other people in the big dark room. And one of them feel asleep and breathed really loudly and somehow that made the experience better. :)

It felt right somehow. He left as soon as the credits started but the rest of us real heads stayed until the lights came up. I needed that.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie. It has been so long since I'd seen it, but I remembered pretty much the entire thing. It was just as tense and strange as I remembered but it was funnier, too. Loggia is the goat and that tailgating scene is one of my favorite things in any Lynch film.

Epic.

Caught Stealing was solid. Very good cast and enjoyed Idles on the score.

Never would have guessed that was Aronofsky if I didn't know going in.

I really liked Backrooms despite the experience being somewhat ruined by the four little shits sitting in front of me who wouldn’t sit still or shut the fuck up. I’m going to have to give it a proper rewatch when I can really lock in and not be distracted by fantasies of kicking that one kid in the back of the head. Multiple people throughout asked them to “SHUT THE FUCK UP!”, which was nice to see. But it was to no avail. Immediately when the credits rolled, people got up and started admonishing them. “You need to lean how to behave in public!”, etc.

But again, the movie was good enough to overcome all of that. My main takeaway is that I think I might be in love with Renate Reinsve.
