Re: The Beautiful Game (The All Inclusive Soccer Thread)
I haven't missed a match yet. Helps that I work near TVs. Had a scare today when the cable box went out during a tropical storm, but I've got the bar TV streaming from my laptop.
Not the biggest soccer fan, but this World Cup has me hooked. Maybe it's the fact that it's in my city, or the Ted Lasso/Wrexham effect, me reading Jonathan Wilson's book on tactics, or nostalgia for my high school "career", but I'm considering following EPL for the 26/27 season. Go Everton.

yeah, im hooked too even if do realize how awful this world cup actually is. The 48 teams is a disgrace. The cooling break is Fifa trying to fuck up with my beloved sport just to make it a spectacle.

the hydration breaks are an abomination
messi looked so comfortable in that game. like he is used to owning US soccer stadiums in MLS.

i must say, the most refreshing thing to come out of fifa monetizing everything is the restriction on referring to the stadiums by their corporate-sponsor names. i much prefer to read about the seattle football stadium.

I’m not sure who’s worse: FIFA or the International Olympic Committee. It’s close.VinylGuy wrote: Fri June 19, 2026 12:30 amyeah, i prefer it too but what Fifa is doing with football is inmoral at least.
