I sent my best friend 6 songs from Lightning Bolt when it first came out. Sirens, Pendulum, Infallible, Yellow Moon, SBM, and Lighting bolt. He finally got back to me regarding his opinion. This is not someone I'd classify as a fan, but someone who is fairly familiar with their music thanks to me, and likes some of it.

He thought SBM felt incomplete, L-bolt was vanilla, loved Sirens, Infallible, and Pendulum, and thinks Yellow Moon is pretty but needs something to grab the listener.

That is all.

I still haven't been caught up in the love for Yellow Moon. Its okay and this is the type of song I'd normally gravite towards, but it still feels flat to me. Its just kinda there. Its a pretty nice live tune though.

Believe it was Casper and another one. And then red rocks. That one was actually good though. The other two, ed seemed like he'd rather be sticking forks into his eyes.
Maybe great bootlegs to listen to, seem to remember liking Casper but as a visual it was a total turn off.

I cant imagine it being anything other than all the LB interview clips and performances that we've already seen

Exactly that.

Except portions of Lightning Bolt and Getaway performed live similar to the Sirens, MYM performance videos.

I think Swallowed Whole wins the "heart of the album" award for me. It's not the greatest song on the album, but it ties the concepts of the album together (both lyrically and musically) and is a key transition point. I think if you 'get' that song, than you 'get' the album. Atleast for me. I've mentioned before that my favorite transition is Pendulum to SW, from bleak imminent death to rising above and finding a way through.

Now I feel a connection between Swallowed Whole and Yellow Moon. Swallowed Whole seems to be about running away from the noise and the forces that can kill you soul in life, and Yellow Moon seems to be about having reached that place of peace and quiet and savoring it in all it's glory.

These sorts of links are what make album listening worthwhile for me, otherwise it'd just be singles all the time.

That said, there are a few pacing issues, I think it's top heavy on the rockers and maybe they should moved MYM to later in the album or something (and maybe pulled SBM into a b-side).

Well his daddy was a psychopath.

He looks like the one that would be making the more interesting music out of the two of them thats for sure. And by interesting I mean all of it would feature samples of his victims dying screams and the sound of a buzz saw.
