I saw it this morning in regular IMAX. 10:30am show and the theatre was full. I loved it

There is one true 70mm IMAX screen in the Southern Hemisphere and it’s here in Melbourne at the museum. They will be screening this one over the next several weeks, including a 10:15am showing which would be perfect as the kid’s at school, but of course it’s totally sold out.

I took my family to see it this morning and was really impressed. I wish we had an IMAX theater closer to home. I read Emily Wilson's translation sometime earlier this year (or maybe last year?) and loved it, and the story was fresh in my mind.

I thought the performances were uniformly wonderful, and especially was drawn to Himesh Patel, Samantha Morton, Anne Hathaway, and John Leguizamo. But there truly wasn't a bad performance. Even my kids (13 and almost 11) said it didn't feel like 3 hours, and my 11yo was pumping their fists at the end.

I happen to have a (transferable) train ticket down to the city for August 15. If AMC Lincoln square adds more IMAX 70mm screenings on that date, I'll try to get a seat. I'm also maybe entertaining the idea of driving to Providence RI one Sunday if they add more dates there.

I'm not chomping at the bit to do either, but I'll be monitoring for tickets and decide then

I agree about the performances. Strong across the board, and it's no surprise to me that the Samantha Morton episode might be my favorite of the whole movie

It's a big no from me, dawg. While I appreciated a lot of the technical achievement throughout, Matt Damon didn't work, at all, for me and the script didn't do any of the other actors any favors. It felt like watching a bad play at times.

Fire Fraught Amne Hathaway into the sun, let Holland use his native accent, and cast a Brit as your Odysseus. Also sick of Jon Bernthal continuing to play Jon Bernthal. I know these are superficial nitpicks but they, collectively, took me out of the movie.

This was a slog to sit through but it got some hearty applause in the sold-out theater we were in so I'm likely in the minority here. Big bummer coming off the high I had seeing Tenet in 70mm last week in Toronto.

I missed this post, but agree with parts of it, particularly the first paragraph and slog comments. I liked Hathaway though. At least she had a pulse.

I know you're probably addressing Ensign, but yeah I don't care about the nationalities. I'm a big Damon fan but just didn't think he was right or care for him in this role. Holland is generally one of those take or leave actors for me. At least I know I will never watch this again
