In my experience, it's foolish to try and predict this band, especially when it comes to the live show, but even moreso now with a new and thus far, mysterious drummer.

Still, I'm going to take a stab at what I think their overall approach will be, based on the past.

First, I think they're going to want to prove that they can and may still play anything from across their catalog. Much how Dave played Dave songs and Jack played Dave & Dave songs and Matt played Dave & Dave & Jack songs, so too will their new drummer play Dave & Dave & Jack & Matt songs. Maybe not at this show but eventually.

Second, regardless of a follow up tour after Ohana, they will most likely want to record and release a new album as soon as possible, so the new drummer won't just feel like he (or she) is in a cover band and to prove they are still a viable rock band, not just trading on the success of Ten, Vs., Better Man, Ledbetter and Last Kiss but an active and still creative group. I can also see them pulling out some never-played tune at Ohana and even a new song.

They want to establish they're not simply doing the hits on the lakefront bbq circuit but still have astonishing music to make.

Third, I think they'll be open to the new drummer's style and songwriting input and much like the previous drummers had signature tunes, so too will drummer #4...no...uhh...6 (!) 

I guess we'll all find out in September. I loved Matt's drumming, studio and live and most associate him with their concerts so it will be interesting to see someone new behind the kit.

i don't think they'll give a shit about the drummer's artistic intention any more. If they did, they'd hire Stuverad and be a fun band again. Can they play the hits, the deep cuts, and tackle the predictable range of tempos you'd expect to get on a new Pearl Jam album? Do they make Eddie want to do jump kicks? Can they tour without drugs? Did they vote for Biden? It's a pretty basic gating mechanism at this point.

I would love for this to be true but I’m very skeptical.

I'm watching Dave K playing Ten now and he's actually growing on me a lot, he's a soft hitter, all pocket, but knows how to groove and brings the chops in the builds where it matters; I would love to hear him play No Code and Riot Act stuff

he's somewhere between Matt and Jack, but none of the stiffness I dislike; if he rejoins PJ I'll be a happy bunny

love how mellow he is

vibes are like the rolling stones drummer, how he always looked like his upper body never moved

and his touch is nice and in no hurry

those glasses and his low raspy voice remind me a little of this :

but he sounded great, for the most part. Alive had a little bit of some jonky stuff. but he crushed it for someone who hasn't played this stuff in years. brother was impressive.

i hope he gets a chance to play more with PJ. i doubt Ed would let him be the full time drummer, but hopefully Dave K can join for a few tour stops and bash out some Ten tracks.

Seeing Dave K play with the band at the R&R HoF ceremony was truly one of the best experiences of my fandom.
