Airplane movies:

Over Your Dead Body. It was fine.

The Get Out. Aaron Paul is so bad in this. And the whole thing objectively stinks. But there was something about its late 90s Elmore Leonard knockoff vibes that kind of worked for me.

Watched it last night - it had promise during parts of it, but ultimately trash. Don't bother

Project update:

Only 2 more movies down. First was El Verdugo (The Executioner), a Spanish comedy that I found not at all funny. I was not surprised by this because I've seen one other film from the same director, Luis Garcia Berlanga, and disliked it. This was at least not people yelling over each other, but I still didn't get much from it. Maybe I just missed it, because it seems like the pieces are there it just didn't connect for me

Second was another John Ford joint: Wagon Master. Now this one was actually funny, though it had a couple of absolutely horrible original songs. I kind of like the old westerns that wrote themselves silly theme songs, but this one was just bad. Good movie overall, though. Not great, but pleasant.

I also watched the first half hour (out of two and a half) of Jia Zhang-Ke's understated communist epic Platform. I won't be returning to it tonight, it's not the mood and I started it too late. Bad choice for this evening, that's on me. I'll do my best to return to it tomorrow

I am currently suffering through this awful movie while also sighing longingly every time Greta Lee is on screen

It's not even the writing that's killing me, it's how it's edited that is making me sick

I’ve not seen that since the 80s. Can’t imagine it holds up well.

I’ve got an old serial from the 40s on dvd somewhere. It’s really cool.

I watched The Taking of Pelham One Two Three last night. I realized during that I have never seen Robert Shaw in anything besides Jaws, and he was tremendous in this.

I watched it for the first time this past spring. Lots of names in it. Highly enjoyable. Fucking Jerry Stiller! That next door neighbor dude from Tim the Toolman Taylor.

Really loved The Invite. Incredibly funny and Olivia Wilde directed the hell out of it. Such great performances by all four actors

If I told you who was supposed to play Olivia Wilde's role before original plans fell through, our resident cannibal's mouth would start watering
