Paramount, Seattle '92 was in the Badmotorfinger box. Hyde Park, London 2012 was in the King Animal box.
I'm pretty sure that Rock am Ring show has done the rounds before, just not officially.
What a strange band they were - their Dortmund 2012 show was filmed for Rockpalast, the German TV series, but they then refused for it to be broadcast as they didn't like their performance.

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
just finished kim thayil's book. a really great read. some interesting insight into their early days and how fondly he looks back on it, hiro quitting, chris quitting in 97 and how much he didn't like audioslave.
it seems like after he left soundgarden, chris kinda left behind everyone from seattle and even after the soundgarden reunion they were bandmates but not really true friends, as he was still living far away and they only really saw each other to play music.
i recently re-read grunge is dead also, and there was a quote in there with someone saying "i don't think anyone in seattle has heard from chris in quite some time."
i didn't really realise how disconnected he became from all his old mates after 1997.

I guess when you get older and start a family and live in another city/state/country it's kinda hard to pal around with your old friends and bandmates like you used to.WtOB? wrote: Mon August 24, 2026 9:15 am just finished kim thayil's book. a really great read. some interesting insight into their early days and how fondly he looks back on it, hiro quitting, chris quitting in 97 and how much he didn't like audioslave.

I’m torn between wanting to read this and being appalled at the quality of writing in the one excerpt I read.

That was interesting. Not familiar with her so had no idea what to expect vocal-wise. I liked it.

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
there's a whole chapter on it, but he starts by saying he didn't like chris' solo stuff, it didnt stimulate him "emotionally or intellectually", and goes onto say he felt the same about audioslave. he said he loved tom morello as a guitarist and ratm, but audioslave seemed like the kind of concocted supergroup they would have rejected growing up. he considered it two-dimentional and was cynical about the fact that the group was put together by rick rubin. i think there's a quote in there from him saying "i can't believe the singer of soundgarden, and the band from ratm, made this...."
he didn't like them covering soundgarden, and didn't like them using the badmotorfinger logo as a backdrop behind the stage at one point.
there's also a quote in there from matt cameron saying cochise was a radio-friendly, boring 4/4 version of get on the snake. they both also thought their fanbase was completely different from soundgarden's. a macho, toothless dude sort of crowd.
he really doesn't hold back. like a said there's a whole chapter of it.

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
Nice, i wanna get the book soon.
I remember Kim didnt quite liked Euphoria Morning when it came out, which i thought it made sense because he had a fight over more melodic stuff on SG after SU, and it makes sense he didnt liked Audioslave at all, specially because it was Rubin who was behind the idea of the band.

it also kind of reminds me how most of members of one band wouldnt get behind a side band or solo album of one of their members, like Jerry with Mad Season or Kim himself with Temple Of The Dog.

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
those comments about audioslave are pretty spot on IMO
it's astonishing bc I deeply love both soundgarden and ratm
and yet i could never come to buy an audioslave album, never saw them live; it was just simply not good
basically a period in rock i ignored like it wasn't the same people
and the audience was different. it was moron meatheads

Re: Total Fucking Godhead / The Soundgarden Thread
i had heard some stuff about chris being distant from seattle people post- the soundgarden breakup
was something along the lines of he lived in paris
was not part of the seattle scene anymore
and people kind of resented that
i think at that point he had made a lot of money and i would not be surprised if his marital situation also steered him into certain direction...
