He's young, he's a fan, and he's Ed's friend.
No, but they might consulted him for suggestions. If not one of the usual suspects I reckon there's good chance they used his network.

It’s an attempt at attention getting, and what would get him more attention than rejoining Pearl Jam?
I’m not saying he wouldn’t do it. I’m saying based on his attitude they wouldn’t do it
Do I think the band could've extended the olive branch to Abbruzzese a bit (or a lot) more over the years? Yes, definitely. He's a massive part of the band's history and they should acknowledge that more openly.

Do I want to see him back behind the kit? God no, that ship has sailed.

Has anyone seen Dave A recently?
Dude is hardly in fighting shape
He would need Ed's plastic surgeon & Jeff's personal trainer ASAP before rejoining PJ

Is Josh K a good drummer? I can’t think of anything I’ve heard him play drums on and I’m not interested enough to seek it out.

Yeah he's looks rough. His Instagram account is almost entirely re-posts of the schlockiest anti-Trump memes he can find—I'm guessing this is a not very subtle way of trying to get back on the band's good side? :P

I feel like he went from being a slightly underrated former member of Pearl Jam to being wildly overrated. I think most of us that have stayed with the band over the years always appreciated his work on Vs/Vitalogy (Vs. in particular). Nobody in PJ fandom ever "forgot" him like his current fanboys are always suggesting. People now act like he was solely responsible for their early success which is of course absurd. He wrote 1 song and wasn't involved with "Ten" although he weirdly keeps getting credit for that album too for some reason. Are people so stupid they think he played on it?

I don't like listening to live recordings from his era—obnoxious snare rolls and splash and china cymbals everywhere. He overplays like a Saturday afternoon in the drum room at Guitar Center. Brendan O'Brien clearly reined him in on the album recordings and thank God for that. He sounds incredible on those.

Exactly. The Dave A thing has always annoyed me.
Dave's drumming is great on Vs. but it is in no way the reason why Vs. is the legendary album that it is. I think anyone of PJ's former drummers could've stepped in and done what Dave A did on that record.
I too have a hard time listening to the Dave A era live shows
His live drumming was annoying with all the cymbals and splashing all over the place.
Totally sounded like some show off wanking it off in the drum room at guitar center
I've always been a Jack Irons guy & loved what he brought to the 95 tour and always loved his drumming on both No Code & Yield.
Jack's not coming back...and Dave A certainly isn't either
So we'll wait and see what happens and who it is.

I think Abbruzzese can be criticised for some things, but I don't agree with that at all.

Everything else aside, his drumming was a huge element of why that record sounded like it did.

They could've made that record with another drummer, but it would've been a very different record.

Dave A powered the band through their most successful live era and two of their best albums and was a big part of ‘that sound’

he deserves more respect than he gets

The album sounded the way it did because of Brendan O'Brien
I know he gets a ton of shit on this board - but it's true
The reason the album is legendary is because of the amazing songwriting & Ed's vocals, delivery & Lyrics .
Dave A 's drumming is great but he was easily the most expendable member.
Take him out of the equation and replace him with either Matt or Jack and Vs & Vitalogy are still legendary albums
Matt & Jack had no issues recreating any of Dave's parts live and I think they even surpassed anything he did
Jack took the Vitalogy songs and made them better
Always preferred the way Matt played songs like Go, Dissident, Rearviewmirror, Glorified G & Rats
The 98 tour version of Animal was peak with both Jack & Matt
On top of all that Dave A has proven to be a giant D-bag over the years & is annoying as fuck

All of the PJ Brendan O'Brien albums sound excellent. He's always been great at the technical stuff in terms of placing mics/mixing and getting excellent takes from the band. For me the issues in the "latter day" BOB albums has more to do with him involving himself in the actual songwriting and interjecting lots of keyboard and synth sounds where they don't belong. I can't think of a rock producer that does a better job of getting great guitar/bass/drum sounds that are loud and clear but not offensive to your ears. That's never wavered I don't think.

Ok, it seems that Zak Starkey once again returned to the Who. On the Ohana date Matt Chamberlain is playing with his latest band 'World Famous Pets' a show in Kentucky.

So...yeah. I think we can cross those from the list. Matt was the frontrunner for many of us, but it seems he is not the one. Sure, that band could always use a session drummer on that tour, guess we will know on the 23rd. Im thinking Freese and Perkins are getting better odds now.

...so remind me why we don't think it could or don't want it to be Richard Stuverud? Just rewatched his Oakland appearance. It's like Jack Irons and Matt Cameron had a baby. Why the fuck not?

Ed turned down Stuverud after the Dave A departure

I would not expect him to accept him now

Stuverud is Jeff’s guy

Ed needs someone he can control

We should assume the new drummer is rehearsing with them now, right? Have any of the band posted lately on social media where they are?

Dave A. posted from a gig he’s doing in Florida right now, so probably not him

Also Dave A looks mmm not that healthy.

Stuverud could be a good choice; i dont really like the guy at all but he could give a good spin live.

I hope its someone else

Both Krusen and Irons confirmed it's not them. Dave A just got back from exile but is playing with some blues guy, will never be him. Starkey just rejoined the Who. Freese is somewhat in NIN, allthought he is always a free agent. Matt Chamberlain is elsewhere on the Ohana date.Barret Martin is touring elsewhere too. Stuverrud would be cool, but he's not super fit. He's a semi pro who's teaching drums in Oakland. There are some guys available in LA: Brad Wilk and Stephen Perkins. ANd probably some in Wotman's network they could have called.

John Wicks also has the Ament connection (Deaf Charlie) and is AT Ohana playing with Jeff in PEST. With 37 he is way younger than the guys. Somehow most of us didnt think of him, but he's at Ohana....

Starkey is back with The Who? Damn, he’s a glutton for punishment.

When was it that Wilk auditioned back in the day?
