Pearl onions are clutch in a pot roast. Carrots as well.

I think there's something off with my crock pot. Ever since I've had it. It has a bizarre smell to it when it starts cooking. Think I may replace it, but honestly, I don't do much crock pot stuff anyway. Think I'd rather just get a Dutch oven

Got some spare ribs going tonight. Usually I do these on the smoker outside. We'll see.

Can anyone recommend a good crockpot?

Brands? I don't know enough about them to vouch for anything specific.

I'll tell you that I've owned a few in my life, and there are two features you need to look for.

-Make sure the lid latches for that extra seal.
-Go ovular, not round. Opt for cooking surface area, not counter space. Just more versatile that way.

The one I have just has a low medium and high setting. I'm sure you can get one with more functions, but why do you really need more than various heats, you know?

Trying a new pulled pork recipe in the crock pot today. 5-6lb pork butt, 750 ml bottle of (cheap) whiskey, and two bottles of Heinz 57 sauce, on high for about 6 hours. A friend told me about it and swears by it. We'll see.

Oh damn. Heinz 57. That’s gonna be good.

Did you season the butt with anything at all?

No. Just the sauce and whiskey in at the same time as the butt. It smells really good now that the alcohol has cooked off. When it first started cooking it just smelled like hot whiskey in the house. (not a bad thing for me, but my wife didn't like it)

I tossed a corned beef in the crock the other day. It was okay, but better as leftovers. The next morning, I shredded some of it, crisped it up, and tossed a couple fried eggs on top for a hearty meal.

It was tasty. A little messy as the sauce isn’t thick. Almost like a North Carolina bbq sauce. Was good as a sandwich. Plenty of leftovers to snack on, maybe the sauce will thicken a little. I used a bottle of Tullamore Dew
