That’s pretty sad to me. There’s setting your child up for success and then there’s deciding what their future is before they’ve formed a rational brain.

This one is probably borderline unwatchable if Kyle Chandler isn’t in it.bada wrote: Mon October 05, 2026 12:43 pm End verdict. Shitty show buoyed by some good performances.
I couldn’t really remember much of the plot from week to week, which is a sign of a bad show. Just couldn’t get invested.

Re: Lanterns- HBO Max
This was alright. Very boring finale. It makes sense if it was originally written to have the big fight take place in the season finale, and these 2026 talky scenes intercut throughout. But then they decided to shift the focus and put the big fight earlier. Now all that was left was a full episode of intercut talky scenes.
And why does the hologram love John? What did they go through together that earned that? John really hasn't done much since he dug Hal and the ring up

I would have liked more peril and action, but I was onboard the whole show
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Everyone in the show did an amazing job of bringing their characters to life. Comic fans are never going to be completely happy with a comic book movie/show unless it follows the source material 100% and that is never going to happen. Freedoms have to be taken (like john using his own oath or the uniforms) to bring a more realistic feel to the show. factor in if they do not do these deep dives into what makes the characters tick then that will alienate half the audience (most people do not have the connection that the die hards do)
maybe next series introduce parallax and ion (the entities that power the batteries) and take it more into space and aliens

And now you’re wanting it to follow the source material.Peeps wrote: Thu October 08, 2026 1:07 pm Everyone in the show did an amazing job of bringing their characters to life. And I reject your notion that freedoms have to be taken to make it more realistic.

I can't say I found the show particularly realistic. An intergalactic genocidal space alien comes to earth as a 50 something woman bangs a hot young guy who really sees her and is beloved and lusted after by all the town folk but is getting endless shit from the 50 something guy who won't let her past be the past is only realistic if you are a middle aged woman in downtown LA on your 5th glass of wine.

Re: Lanterns- HBO Max
taking it to space and more aliens isnt just following the source material. they already established there is a prison in space that Sinestro was held in. it stands to reason there are other alien species there, not just korugians like sinestro.wease wrote: Thu October 08, 2026 2:09 pmAnd now you’re wanting it to follow the source material.Peeps wrote: Thu October 08, 2026 1:07 pm Everyone in the show did an amazing job of bringing their characters to life. paralax and ion could be shown as lore, something the guardians have been trying to hide due to the guardians ego of wanting everyone to believe they are the sole reason behind the green. this can lead to more backstory (kinda like the infinity stones) that john and halogram investigate
the whole series followed the source material but made changes where it made more sense for the story to progress. least in my opinion
there is so much lore that can be adapted from the books but they will have to take liberties with it because the average viewer doesn't know the whole history of the comics

well first you have to accept there are aliens. once you do that not a lot is out of the realm of possibilitybada wrote: Thu October 08, 2026 2:41 pm I can't say I found the show particularly realistic. Re: Lanterns- HBO Max
i dont think this one was meant to have another season. Its main focus is to introduce John so we can see him in the supes movie thats coming next year and thats it. DC has Clayface next and i think thats about it?
With the merge im not even that sure Gunn will still be at the helm of DC.

Why wouldn’t he be? I’m pretty sure he’s been reaffirmed to be head of DC post merger

Does DC have anything after Supes 2?
I dont think he has anything greenlighted actually and even if he is reaffirmed these situations always change past planes, regardless of Supergirl ´s box office disaster.
New bosses might want another batman movie instead of Clayface or whatever project Gunn wanted to make.
