Mind you I only played into college but the dressing room didn't work that way. You can be tough but there are still alphas and psychos within that group. There's a definite and defined pecking order in the locker room. The whole idea of admitting any kind of weakness or ganging up would have been a completely foreign concept.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:Damn this whole story is crazy. I've definitely seen hazing or rookie initiation go to far but never said a word. Football was the worse of any sport by far, followed by hockey.

Well, and not that I know anywhere near enough of the story, but this definitely went way past rookie hazing and into bullying, and as big of a deal as it would be for him to lose his career, he deserves to get what he was giving. and is he really the only one doing all this? Or will there be other names coming out soon of players that were doing this along with incognito ?surfndestroy wrote:Mind you I only played into college but the dressing room didn't work that way. I would guess that every team has those that step over the line but if the team has leadership from the top down, it doesn't get out of hand. It's Ray Emery in Chicago versus Philly.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:Well, and not that I know anywhere near enough of the story, but this definitely went way past rookie hazing and into bullying, and as big of a deal as it would be for him to lose his career, he deserves to get what he was giving. and is he really the only one doing all this? Hearing Sportscenter anchors read the text of Incognito's voicemails and substituting in "n-word" and "expletive" is at the same time hilarious and sad.

The Miami Herald is reporting that there are several rookies literally living paycheck to paycheck right now because of how much money they're being forced to spend on the vets.

the problem is richie is the ringleader but there are others who are basically as guilty for extorting the money from these rookies

Like I said, I'm really hoping that this episode also puts this arrangement to an end in the NFL.4/5 wrote:The Miami Herald is reporting that there are several rookies literally living paycheck to paycheck right now because of how much money they're being forced to spend on the vets.

Re: the miami dolphins
True but you can't go too hard on the Dolphins management or their coaching staff. To let it get as far as it did there was a complete lack of leadership from the top down. Trainers, equipment managers and many others would have seen what was happening but the tone set by management and coaching would have been "that doesn't matter". Management and coaching didn't want to know so they set up lines of communication and lack of open door policy so this kind of thing can happen. I can almost gaurantee you that it will come out that someone tried to mention it but management/coaching wasn't interested in hearing.doug rr wrote:that guy is such a piece of shit..you have to be one hell of an asshole to get kicked off the team at nebraska, they take in most criminals
Once you have a coach that cares more about individual on field performance rather than adhering to a process that should result in team success, you have a breeding ground for assholes. Put those assholes in leadership roles and you get this. I've had plenty of that type of coach and they can have good teams but seldom will they have great teams as they leave too many of their own players behind.
