yeah, I didn't mean "rip-off" per se

Is it really shocking? How many Pearl Jam songs sound like "Come Back"? This is a stylistic outlier, I think it makes total sense that some people dislike it.
I like me a good PJ outlier

and of course there is no other lyric in the pearl jam catalog that can't be ruined by typing it like that, so I am forced to surrender the field to you.

HOLY FCK! Can you imagine how amazing this song would have been if the Eddie of 1995 sung it?

Then again their entire discography would sound better

What's really shocking is that this song's thread is now 4 pages long

Maybe I hav an irrational love for these types of songs. HEre is one that is VERY similar in all aspects to Come Back. I kind of like the playing on this track a bit better as they approached it with a more organic and loose feel when compared to the rather stiffness that PJ played Come Back

This is the song I thought of when I first heard Come Back. Except it's way better.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

I seem to be in the minority, but I dig Mike getting in touch with his inner BB King.

Now, the first time I heard Come Back I will admit it threw me WAY off. I didn't "get it". Especially after Army Reserve :bammer:. Much in the same way I didn't "get" Sleight of Hand until probably the 6th-10th listen. As far as their slow songs go it's certainly not top 10, but I still enjoy it. Fuh sho.

Will Ed ever sing the correct first verse again? or has he given up?

It's never been my favorite song in the catalog but I've always liked this one. I like its simplicity - it's just a vehicle for Ed to sing something meaningful to him. The music is almost an afterthought (though I'm sure it isn't to the band). I love Mike's lead here too.

I think I tend to like S/T a lot better than most of you though. The production sucks but there are some songs I legitimately love (Marker in the Sand > Parachutes > Unemployable is fantastic, Comatose is pretty good as far as rockers go and I've always loved Life Wasted). On the other hand, I cannot stand Inside Job. I've heard it at the last 4 shows I've attended (2x in 2006 and 2x in 2009) and hope to never hear it again live.

S/T would stand up to just about anything in the catalog outside of Ten and Vitalogy if I only had to include half the record.

my mom likes this song, quite a bit. Not sure what that says about it. She doesn't like much good music.
