The Coffee Appreciation Thread

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I've jumped headlong into the world of the french press, without even a rope or an Alex to save me.

I have a pour-over that I'll probably still use to make a single, quick cup, but my Mr. Coffee is probably going to Goodwill.washing machine II wrote:Same here. Also, can't believe you used a Keurig.

The ONLY way to enjoy coffee. Fresh ground beans and a french press = heaven!Mickey wrote:I've jumped headlong into the world of the french press, without even a rope or an Alex to save me.

I always defend my Keurig use this way; it's efficient as hell and sometimes any caffeine is good caffeine.Mickey wrote:can't believe you used a Keurig.

I suppose we all can.
A real burr grinder is now at the top of my wish-list. Also, how do y'all clean your presses? I've got a Bodum that claims to be dishwasher safe but I'm wary. I've been hand-washing it with water but the oils--they accumulate!

Re: The Coffee Appreciation Thread
I only wash the thing with soap about once a week. Rest of the time it's a quick rinse with hot water. To be fair, it only gets used about three-four days a week.doug rr wrote:i have the bodum as well and just hand wash it without soapMickey wrote:I suppose we all can.

Re: The Coffee Appreciation Thread
If I feel guilty about the wastefulness that comes with using my Keurig (it's used 4 days a week, 2 cups a day), doesn't that make it all okay in the end?Mickey wrote:But how grossly unsustainable!washing machine II wrote:I always defend my Keurig use this way; it's efficient as hell and sometimes any caffeine is good caffeine.Mickey wrote:can't believe you used a Keurig.
And if you get the right coffee and brew small enough, the coffee isn't half bad, and doesn't require the endless washing (and time) that my French press requires (used about twice a month...maybe).
My blade grinder was used pretty much every day for eight years, and I think I washed it once.

Re: The Coffee Appreciation Thread
I've read that grinding uncooked white rice and then dabbing the walls with a dry paper towel is a good way to clean a burr grinder.
