"Mama" - started out pretty good, then went down hill. Ending was clearly an afterthought.

"Cloud Atlas" - Meh. Possibly Tom Hank's worst acting ever and the race-changing via makeup thing? So bad. Respect your audience enough that we can understand those are meant to be the same souls.

It's sitting on 97/100 or something equally as absurd on metacritic. Let us know how it goes.

For the first ever, I bought a movie not knowing one thing about it. Never even heard of it.

I look forward to tonight's viewing of A Company Man.

The Conjuring

I'm not normally into these kinds of movies, but I thought this was really well done.

I needed a drink afterwards. My nerves were spent.

Watched Moon last night. Sam Rockwell worked his guts out in this one. It was quite enjoyable, even if a little predictable. They conveyed a pretty good feeling of isolation, and the soundtrack and a few elements of the movie were obvious and reasonably well done nods to 2001 A Space Odyssey. Despite the slight B grade feel, it was a pretty good flick.

True Story:

I watched this for the first time of long haul across the pacific a few years ago and I laughed so hard that not only did I watch three straight runs of it, the flight attendant came by to check my ticket a verify I belonged in business class as "we are usually not loud in this part of the cabin sir".

Though worse than that was an overnight flight from NRT->IAD where the screens were the big 20" kind and I watched the horror flick "The Orphan" with Vera Farmiga. It turned out to be the uncensored version so the seen where Peter Skaarsgard had her bent over the kitchen counter and banging her from behind was clearly visible on my down the entire length of the plane. I was basically watching softcore porn in front of 200 people.

Check out the trailer for The Raid 2.

I just watched it over at imdb.

Ohhh my.
