i agree with your stance but the naivety in Ed's "almost wishes" lays in the fact that the gun-worshipping rednecks won't ever come to admit or even realize that their utterly idiot mentality leads their society to banalize mass-shootings. they'll ALWAYS respond that they can regulate the multiplication of those gun crimes with MOAR GUNZ. it's a big ole clusterfuck.

I think in practice lobbies have more to do with this matters than potential lost votes. It's just convenient to make voters think they have a real influence - it's a win win on the surface.

Well, it *wouldn't* be unrateable if it hadn't been covered in so much overly-sentimental gloss. It's a fairly standard Ed song, and would have garnered a comfortable 2.5 or 3/5 from most people if it was produced in a way that these songs usually are.

Yeah and i think you can still tell a song "underneath" the production or arrangement for that matter. A song can have various versions or covers but there's a skeleton there that is what ultimately prevails and it's what different versions are built around. One can judge FD by the isolated Wrigley track for what i care - it's the same song.
