I have emails hitting my mailbox now that were sent yesterday. I think gmail may have had issues with their mail servers.

I got the 10C newsletter 6 minutes before the confirmation of my purchase order.

So, of course, as any good and faithful consumer of endless amounts of Pearl Jam "stuff" would do, I immediately clicked on the link to purchase my copy and it says "SOLD OUT"?! Seriously? Am I missing something here? How could it possibly be sold out already? Please tell me this problem will be addressed? Between this and the problems many people are experiencing with the Lightning Bolt vinyl, I would say the PJ camp's batting average is dangerously low at this point. Time to put a little fixin' on it?

You're advocating for single-issue politics here. Surely all of the above is stupid.

 Since that was the primary sentiment of my message... I wanted to make sure that came across loud and clear, just in case they missed something there.

Wow.

Never seen a collective nuclear bitchfit like the one going on about this set.

People genuinely losing their minds about missing out.

Scary. It's just some vinyl.

They shouldn't make things so limited. Do like they did with the DC Vinyl. That seemed to work well.

Haven't been on the board for a couple weeks once new album euphoria, hysteria, etc., subsided. But as soon as I saw this over the weekend I came straight over to see how angry some folks were about it. The thread was at three pages then, and I expected it to be higher than 10 by now. Guess a lot of people spent the weekend working on their Eddie Vedder holiday portraits.

You're advocating for single-issue politics here. Surely all of the above is stupid.

I think many of the products the 10c sells are stupid. I think people complaining about the crap that pearl jam's fan club sells is even stupider, and I think the arguments that this is a sign of the band's decline is even stupidest.

So it's a continuum of stupid, really, but totally separate from the failure of the 10c to actually perform many of its basic job functions (enable members to be aware of the goods it is selling, successfully delivering those goods, etc). That stuff is pretty hard to excuse.

But they're related. The selling of this pointless boxset (the same album people already have in ridiculously expensive packaging on six(!) discs), approximately one week after the fuck-up with the original LB vinyl, just draws attention to the fact that they'll do anything to flog products. I don't think anyone was literally angry about it, and I'm pretty sure the 'signs of the band's decline' jokes were just that... jokes. But it's cumulative, and every time something like this happens, someone argues what you have: "This little single thing isn't a problem." And no, it isn't, but like them all, it's symptomatic of a bigger problem. I do think that all these mistakes could end up in the 10C's decline (at least in the public image), if they're not careful. I'm at the point where I don't think the band has any idea what goes on with them.

Actually, the best part of all of this is:

"Box sets will ship in mid-December. (subject to change) "

Then a few lines down:

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR SHIPPING ADDRESS CAREFULLY WHEN YOU RECEIVE ORDER CONFIRMATION EMAIL. AND THE ADDRESS YOU ARE PROVIDING WILL BE VALID UNTIL AT LEAST 2/2014.

I got really nervous if my order was going to go through, but right now the status says Warehouse. I think that means it did. I checked out using an old billing address that didn't match my card, so I was assuming that would basically kill my order.

Based on some of the information i've been able to ascertain from this thread, it's actually multiple, for display only, pieces of cut up blank vinyl which, for consumers of gun hating countries, cost $79 just to ship.

And apparently the product never actually existed outside the form of a picture and 10C is just trolling us by sending these emails and directing us to a page which loudly proclaims SOLD OUT. The page probably installs some malware as well, such as KISS coffin widgets.

Seems like a legitimate reason to get one's rage on.
