Well not to get in the way of the merch collector's item bashing, but if these 7" singles are 45rpm records then it can be argued that they are higher fidelity/better quality than the 33rpm 12" vinyl LP. But of course it doesn't say on the sales site what rpm they are so it seems audiophiles aren't their target buyer.

As of now I'm blaming that on Google. Any chance you are a gmail user? I had massive delays with email deliveries yesterday/today.
I am and got the email in time.
I did too, but my confirmation email from my order just arrived today but says it was sent 18 hours ago.

Why would you spend that much on air filters?

Had they released this box like Modest Mouse released their latest No One's First and You're Next EP, it would have been much cooler.

I think it was Panda Bear that released a handful of 7s before Tomboy. No bsides. But when the LP came out the songs were different. That was cool.

And the price of concert tickets has raised substantially to compensate for that loss. I believe I paid $35 in 2003 to see them. It was $90 after service charges this go around. Inflation has not been that drastic. Lower tier bands probably suffer but not Pearl Jam. I'm sure they get a million bucks EASY for all of the festivals they play. They also bring that much in per sold out arena show. Even if 1/2 of that is taken out for expenses and Boom (ha), each member is bringing in $100k a night.

$90 sounds pretty good to me.

Summer 2013 - Most Expensive Tours
http://www.forbes.com/sites/jesselawren ... t-tickets/

Tour Avg Price
One Direction   $674.23
The Rolling Stones  $637.50
Beyoncé  $358.97
Eagles  $312.25
Pink $299.90
Paul McCartney  $273.73
Fleetwood Mac  $270.29
Depeche Mode  $263.30
Bruno Mars  $250.56
Black Sabbath  $227.95
Justin Timberlake  $221.88
Justin Bieber  $214.12
Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran  $214.03
John Mayer  $208.09
Dave Matthews Band  $202.53
Lil Wayne  $193.51
Rush  $192.04
Bon Jovi  $191.68
Matchbox 20  $182.69

I think this is where PJ tries to look like the good guy for the common man by only charging $90 but it's an illusion. Generally all of the above artists you mentioned charged probably $45 or less to sit in the nosebleeds or behind the stage. Pearl Jam charges full price for those. If you average out the ticket prices for a Dave Matthews show with the various price ranges, it's about the same gross as a Pearl Jam show. You can't tell me charging $90 to sit in the last row behind the stage is keeping the fans in mind.

And to counter your list, plenty of bands in Pearl Jam's bracket charge less than $90 for their highest prices. Radiohead, Green Day and Metallica come to mind and they all generally have elaborate light/stage shows that cost significantly more than Pearl Jam just showing up and playing.

Those 7" look cool.
Did you get one?
Nope, because they are expensive and these months ahead im going to spend money in other stuff too.
But they seem cool, if they release it again sometime i might buy them.
I could see this going on sale again.
Oh there is absolutely no doubt that it will.
Between this and the D.C. Vinyl, I have to become a member again. Fuckers. I'm nervous about my amazon order.
The DC vinyl is a must have. Its a great show from a very good era, the setlist is awesome and sounds great.

45 is better quality than 33?

Smaller/tighter grooves ? Or what?

I'm kind of glad I missed out on this crap. It saved me $60 for something (1) I never intend to listen to, and (2) certainly do not need.

That's definitely my issue.

It's a bummer to see the band cater to that crowd so aggressively.

I could be wrong, but I think it's cut at a slower speed, thus a better groove? I don't fucking know. God. Dammit.

I guess I just feel that, at the moment, we're getting a vaguely OK album every four years. But the number of merch products being released is pretty much through the roof. Is the amount of superfluous crap actually proportional to the amount of new music being released? I don't think so.
