I still remember when I attended BSU games as a kid and the shot clock was 45 seconds...Monkey_Driven wrote:The 35 second clock is inexcusable in my eyes. And I hate the possession arrow with a fiery passion. Also, why aren't there quarters in college basketball? I wouldn't say that I necessarily hate it and want it to change, but occasionally I'll get juked out when I see there's a few seconds left in the 2nd and I think they're going to halftime.

A shot clock should never last more than 30 seconds in any level of basketball.Green Habit wrote:I still remember when I attended BSU games as a kid and the shot clock was 45 seconds...Monkey_Driven wrote:The 35 second clock is inexcusable in my eyes. The insane number of times out given to a team in college basketball (those, combined with the TV times out, just slow the game down to a crawl and makes coaches completely over coach)

Spotting the ball at the spot of a kick for a change of possession after a missed FG in the NFL (although I don't think it's that big of a deal, I just don't understand it).

People complain about the end of NBA games taking forever (never really feels like it to me), but the last two minutes of college basketball games are virtually unwatchable.Chris_H_2 wrote:The insane number of times out given to a team in college basketball (those, combined with the TV times out, just slow the game down to a crawl and makes coaches completely over coach)

Really? I like the college rule better. Spot fouls suck, and some BS ticky tacky call can be too much of a game changer. Like a 35 or 40 yard interference call. 15 yards is fair, and you get a new set of downs. To me, this is better.Green Habit wrote:This is easily top five of my most hated rules--maybe even #1.Chris_H_2 wrote:15 yard pass interference instead of a spot foul in college football

Did anyone say NFL overtime? I like college better, however I don't like that both teams start on the 25. That basically like giving that starts first 3 points. I think they should move it back to like the 45 or 50 and make them earn the 3 points.

Re: Stupid Rules In Sports
the coach's challenge. I love instant replay, but giving the coach the option of using it is dumb. I hate the strategy around it.
And why does it take forever?
What was wrong with having someone in the booth that could review any close or important play? It worked fine.

I don't like seeing DBs committing pass interference to break up a big play, knowing that they can they can turn a 35 or 40 yard play into a 15 yard play by committing a penalty.darth_vedder wrote:Really? Sports must be so cool on the west coast, especially football sundays. Game at 10, game at 1, stop for dinner, another game at 6, and still time to watch something else? Awesome.![]()

I despise college overtime specifically for the part I bolded. It puts way too much emphasis on red zone offense/defense. The NFL almost has it right--they just need always to give both teams a chance to possess, regardless of whether or not the first team scores a TD.darth_vedder wrote:Did anyone say NFL overtime? Re: Stupid Rules In Sports
I'm not necessarily saying that I want this change, but sometimes I think it'd be fun to have field goals from 50 yards or further count for 4 points. Could add some intriguing tactical decisions.
