Strat wrote:I dont think one can say it was matts loud taping. its a shitty cell phone camera and you have no idea what the audio n stage was like. Everybody was out of time and even aments bass was a mess. Ed couldnt hear a thing and Boom did absolutely nothing to correct it. Nobody did. What an abortion.
It's not Boom's job to correct it. If their monitors / foldback were shit, or the P.A. was shit, that might explain it, in which case it was nobody's fault. If no one can hear each other, there it is. But then even in my own experience as a drummer for a band, if the P.A. was terrible and nobody could hear each other, the last thing I would be thinking is that I needed to keep time for everyone else. The part of this song on the video was just keyboard and Ed. So I would've kept out of that arrangement completely until it was my time to come on. Boom's tendency is clearly to go *slower* than the required timing, which is much better than Matt's instinct, which is to speed everything up. It's a matter of trust; leave the soloists to it until it's my turn to come in and pick up the pace, with Jeff (if only, heh). Obviously, if they had this arrangement worked out, then it might have been difficult to go against it on the night, but if the P.A. is terrible, you have to be able to think "on your feet" in these situations. I acknowledge that bad sound might've thrown them out.

But anyway, I think we can all agree that they'll want to be playing that one better next time. :)

Or maybe after playing it 4 times in 4 months they could, you know, give it a rest for a while.

Well, at the risk of incurring even more scorn, I don't want to hear it anymore.

If they want to go the OMFGAndyGivesMeWood route, I'd prefer pushing forward back or Times of Trouble into Footsteps (which they should have done at PJ20 as part of: CD/CoT->SayHello2Heaven->HungerStrike-> ToT->Footsteps->Once->Alive).

Fucking 10 Club getting the bootlegs out in just over a month. Fuck them. Don't they know that Arcade Fire is pre-recording concerts so their fans don't have to wait until after the show has been performed to buy the boot? Just another money grab from a band surviving on past glories.

Yup. He played excellently for Binaural, Riot Act (and their corresponding tours) as well as quite a bit of S/T (and its tour). I don't know what's happened; I would put it down to age, but he's not ageing with Soundgarden. The most plausible thought, imo, has always been that he's just bored.
Soundgarden mercilessly challenge themselves to produce good music

PJ stopped doing that since Ed became the band's compliance officer. Matt and Stone stopped trying with PJ after enough rounds of Ed's pusstificating; butting his big hairy head in the mix smearing bland dog lyrics on top of any remotely musically independent and interesting semi-boner that would emerge between the other band members
