For sure.

But I think they're only a little bit similar.
The one objective improvement I think JG makes over Getaway is the introduction; there's so much force in it, it really gives you that "This song is gonna be great" anticipation, where as Getaway's intro is just a non-event. Other than that, I think it all depends on which type of lyrical content you prefer, because yeah, musically they're sort of similar.

Johnny guitar is better, but that's okay. One song has to be better

Because of this, MYM might have leapfrogged Getaway in my rankings.

Do you think Ed wrote the "It's O000000-Kay" lyric with the famous Daughter tag in mind? I made that immediate assumption and really like the tune because of it.

Nah, he just wanted his delivery to be deemed a return to form.

Getaway is much the superior song. I like Johnny Guitar though.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Don't like the chorus much, both the music and the lyrics.

I love Johnny Guitar, but Getaway, to my ears, is one of Pearl Jam's strongest. I'd even go so far as to say it will go down as one of their latter day classics.

JG is the best thing about Backspacer, especially "I hide my disappointment cuz for years I have been hopin'..."

For now, I'd say it's about tied with Getaway. Both really fun.

Yup. Holds it's own with some of their earlier classics too.

I like both tunes and JG might be the best song on BS, but Getaway > JG.

It's all better in my new headphones.

I don't like that the album is better or worse depending on which headphones you're listening with, but maybe that's not unprecedented.

Out of curiousity, since I'm in the market, what kind of headphones did you pick up Harmless?
