Re: Post-Riot Act Moneygrab
Complete list of money-grabbing songs to be considered "good" or better. All other songs should not be considered "good". This is definitive.
Man of the Hour
Comatose
Severed Hand
Marker in the Sand
Parachutes
Unemployable
Got Some
Amongst the Waves
The End
Getaway
MYM
My Father's Son
Lightning Bolt
Pendulum
Yellow Moon
15 songs in 10 years
edit - added parachutes. Can't seem to find any fathomable way to add any addional songs, even based on stip's revisionist list
So, 15 songs in 10 years. Kind of shocking when compared to 40-50 songs that would qualify at this level in the 7 years from '91- to '98.

"couple of years" being the most revisionist part.

Re: Post-Riot Act Moneygrab
I don't get this concept of "selling out" with this band or "money grab" songs or "why they don't make music like they used to? Boo f-ing hoo"
They don't make music like they used to because they've evolved like human being's do. If you want the same album every time go buy any Aerosmith or Creed record.
This constant wait for "sound like they're older stuff" is baffling. It's either a good album/song or not... Simple as that. Every single album has both. Some more good and some more not so good.
I just saw PJ last night for the umpteenth (I lost count) time. They are still relevant, they're new songs as standalone hold up to anything else out there. On the floor sitting with folks from all different age groups who discovered them at Ten, Vitalogy, Avocado, Lightning Bolt. The constant was the immediate intrigue when they heard them the first time. What was even more interesting were the people (when WWS, Nothingman, Given To Fly) that were like "I can't believe I missed that... Where was i"? Then the folks who were shocked that the new songs were new songs and how great they were.
Oh... And the sell out shit. I don't get that at all. "Daughter", "Dissident", "Better Man", 1/2 and half the "Yield" album could be perceived as such... If you're ignorant.

Pearl Jam's management has discussed why the band agreed to an exclusive big box retail deal with Target for their upcoming album Backspacer, and now Eddie Vedder and Co. have opened up to Billboard. The bottom line: the agreement passed the band's "moral barometer" and opened up the possibility of cool exclusives for die-hard fans.
