It should be possible to make a single BBcode that works for all sorts of youtube URLs, using a system similar to what I experimented with bandcamp there, i.e. with a call to an intermediate script that analyzes the URL and extract the relevant data.

I definitely appreciate that having these scripts could work better for the board. The only problem is that I don't have SSH or FTP access to the server, to be able to upload the PHP scripts. I'm only working within the confines of moderator, so I can only add BBCodes that work internally to PHPBB.

I could ask the admins to action the uploads, but they are busy people, and if anything needs changing and tweaking constantly, it'd be a pain in the ass for all involved.
