They are pretty good! Vocalist is kinda Shinedowny which isn't really my thing but still impressive range. Tough to find good singers like that.

in bandcamp bands can choose which song to start playing first...the idea being to lead with your best i guess.

yeah I figured, but I'm not sure it's a very good idea to put your last song first when people are trying to listen to the whole thing

So Decibel's Top 40 Albums of 2013 List is out, let's bitch about the great stuff they ignored and the crap they included:

1. Carcass - Surgical Steel
2. In Solitude - Sister
3. Gorguts - Colored Sands
4. SubRosa - More Constant Than The Gods
5. Inquisition - Obscure Verses For The Multiverse
6. Cult of Luna - Vertikal
7. Melt Banana - Fetch
8. Darkthrone - The Underground Resistance
9. Noisem - Agony Defined
10. Tribulation - The Formulas of Death
11. Deafheaven - Sunbather
12. Toxic Holocaust - Chemistry of Consciousness
13. Nails - Abandon All Life
14. Inter Arma - Sky Burial
15. Autopsy - The Headless Ritual
16. Secrets of the Sky - To Sail Black Waters
17. Purson - The Circle and the Blue Door
18. Lycus - Tempest
19. Ihsahn - Das Seelenbrechen
20. The Ruins of Beverast - Blood Vaults: The Blazing Gospel of Heinrich Kramer
21. Antigama - Meteor
22. Kylesa - Ultraviolet
23. Immolation - Kingdom of Conspiracy
24. Exhumed - Necrocracy
25. Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats - Mind Control
26. Oranssi Pazuzu - Valonielu
27. Ulcerate - Vermis
28. Anciients - Heart of Oak
29. Craven Idol - Towards Eschaton
30. Iron Reagan - Worse Than Dead
31. Portal - Vexovoid
32. Coliseum - Sister Faith
33. Cathedral - The Last Spire
34. Skeletonwitch - Serpents Unleashed
35. Noctum - Final Sacrifice
36. Ævangelist - Omen Ex Simulacra
37. Watain - The Wild Hunt
38. Corrections House - Last City Zero
39. Dark Tranquility - Construct
40. Batillus - Concrete Sustain

My 2 eurocents:

Agree on
Immolation
Gorguts
Portal
Inter Arma

Good but probably not best-of-the-year good
Inquisition
Ulcerate
Darkthrone

Meh
Cult of Luna
Nails
Deafheaven
Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats
everything that can be described as punk

I should have heard those by now but for some reason I have not
Watain
Tribulation

Glaring omissions aka what the fuck were you thinking Decibel?
Vastum - Patricidal Lust
Paysage d'Hiver - Das Tor
Rorcal - Vilagvege
Antediluvian - Logos
Desolate Shrine - The Sanctum of Human Darkness (understandably not on your 2012 list as it came out too late but then it should be on this one because it slays)

Less glaring omissions aka I'm not gonna throw a tantrum but let's face it they would have made your list better
Aosoth - IV: An Arrow in Heart
Sacriphyx - The Western Front
Dressed in Streams - The Search for Blood
In the Company of Serpents - Of the Flock
Gigan - Multi-Dimensional Fractal Sorcery and Super Science
Wolvserpent - Perigea Antahkarana
Wrekmeister Harmonies - You've Always Meant So Much to Me
Altar of Plagues - Teethed Glory and Injury

Surprised they didn't make it

The amount of stuff I like/dislike might be similar but I prefer that list, at least it looks like they know there's a whole world of music beyond high profile releases. Bonus points for having Antediluvian, Wolvserpent and Eight Bells.

Ensemble Pearl was boring for the most part. Abyssal's previous album was 100x better. The Body are overrated. And still no Paysage d'Hiver, Rorcal or Vastum. :shake:

edit: Alraune sounds good so far

I'm liking this a lot.

I think this kinda rules.

You've heard this Scale the Summit album, MF? Sounds like something you'd like. Instrumental mathy-proggy stuff. I'm kinda reluctant about calling it metal because of how "bright" it sounds at times.

Just bought tickets for The Sword in March. It's at a tiny venue and tickets were only $22. :bammer:
