Perhaps on the day I hear the sirens, you will find yourself finally swallowed whole.

do you like Yellow Moon? I was listening to Yellow Moon and Future Days while I was rocking mia back to sleep this morning and I was wondering if it was 'pink floydish' in the same way Sirens is. I don't know enough 80s pink floyd to tell.

I keep expecting to like Yellow Moon whenever I play it, but it still makes absolutely no impression on me. I'll be honest, I don't think I could hum a singe part of it to a person if he or she asked me to.

I don't really know any 80's Pink Floyd either, so I don't know if it fits that same bill.

I can't comment on Floyd, as I don't want to get flamed today, but I would say that the melody isn't the strongest thing about this song (except for in the bridge, which is good). I'm a bit baffled as to why Ed chose to make that chorus melody dip on the word "moon", rather than rise. There's a kind of Native-American "un-tunefulness" to it which is nice, but it's not exactly "Arc", where that's pulled off perfectly. Having said all that, one day the song might sweep you away purely for its atmosphere, and the way the lyrics strengthen it (particularly the bridge's lyrics and the suggested theme); it's beautiful in a gloomy, melancholy way. I also really like everything the organ is doing, twinned with the guitars, and not everyone does.

yeah, Harmless said it all better than I will. It's a mood piece that, when it catches you, can really sweep you away in a powerfully understated way. But it's a song that you need to be focusing on, since there's nothing that flashy about it.

I like a song here or there, but they're not my thing.

People just don't like Harmless talking about them

harmless, if you want to PM me disparaging comments about Pink Floyd, I'd enjoy that.

I enjoy quite a few Pink Floyd songs, but there are fans here who shudder at any suggestions that Sirens sounds like them, just because they don't like Sirens. Basically, when I say the song reminds me of late-era Floyd all I'm doing is agreeing with Mike McCready, who wrote the damn song. But apparently it sounds like the wrong era of Floyd, when they weren't cool anymore, which (strangely) isn't a black mark on Floyd but on Pearl Jam.

Try telling them it sounds like Led Zeppelin and see if that goes over any better. Or, if that doesn't work, use The Beatles.

Sorry, I get a bit passionate about this subject. But it is only because I hear the sirens, you dig?

Those are some truly brave, potentially dangerous and revolutionary opinions you guys got there. How do you feel about Bono?

Played it in full on the way to the in-laws yesterday. Perfectly timed album that started on our street and ended just as we pulled onto theirs..put me in a much needed mindset for what I was about to endure.. ;)

Oh, and I still love it...

We're annoyed at his apparent need to insert himself into the legacy of every dead musician he ever crossed paths with.

Is that some form of necrophilia?
