Believe me, I was a Yankees fan when that happened, and loved the hell out of it.MattA75 wrote:yeah....noKral wrote:THE worst time for a baseball fan is when your team is in the 6th inning, down in an elimination game. I agree that big things can happen but the running out of chances was what I was referring to.

Take it to the NHL thread. Actually, you know what? Glad Francona won manager of the year,, it was ridiculous that he never won it all those years in Boston. Plus, getting the Indians as far as he did was more impressive than what Farrell did(in the regular season.)

LOL at that ridiculous signing of an old catcher coming off a PED suspension that can't hit righties. Can't wait till he's 37 in year 3 of that contract.Coach wrote:The catcher market will now heat up: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/p ... -ruiz.html

That's absolutely no reason to give three years and that much money to a catcher who won't give you more than 110 games 1/3 into the contract.numbers wrote:there are no good catchers in MLB right now, it's not that outrageous of a deal.

Yeah, they've certainly cornered the market on being saddled with bloated contracts with aging players.Joesanity wrote:And they still owe Ryan Howard for 3 more years.Chris_H_2 wrote:LOL at that ridiculous signing of an old catcher coming off a PED suspension that can't hit righties. Re: MLB
I don't have a problem with the contract, and I would have been fine if the Jays had signed him to a similar deal. It's just that... the Phillies kind of aren't very good, almost all of their top players should be expected to decline, and they're acting like a team on the verge of being a World Series contender.Chris_H_2 wrote:That's absolutely no reason to give three years and that much money to a catcher who won't give you more than 110 games 1/3 into the contract.numbers wrote:there are no good catchers in MLB right now, it's not that outrageous of a deal.
Amaro should have been gone the second he signed the Howard deal.
