I liked that Kurt Vile song. Need more picks. I've been stuck in the 70s all year I've barely listened to anything new. Save me.

Pretty much. What's your criteria for selecting the nation's favourites?

In my opinion, Pearl Jam and Chvrches had by far the best albums this year.

Wavves - Demon To Lean On

CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share

The Civil Wars - Dust To Dust

Sigur Rós - Stormur

HAIM - Falling

Kings Of Leon - Temple

Jim James - State Of The Art (A.E.I.O.U)

Pearl Jam - Sirens

Pearl Jam - Lightning Bolt

Gotta be guitars and drums and deep, deep lyrics. None of that instrumental pussy bullshit.

Has to be popular, or at least reasonably well known, has to be at least a bit anthemic (is that actually a word?), has to have a discernable structure and a singalong chorus. Has to be American of course, although I will admit that even those pansy poms are coming up with some half decent tunes now and then. Has to have at least a 6 out of 10 pitchfork rating.

Yeah. That seems about right.

Sounds pretty fail-safe to me.

These are all objective and thoroughly researched lists, so i don't see how he could dislike any of it.
