Pearl Jam Super Fan Series

I host a podcast about sports- We have built a reputation on having huge guests despite being a small independent show. We have had Peter King, Rich Eisen, John Smoltz, Duff McKagen, and Artie Lange.

Around the time of the Wrigley show one of the writers at Grantland posted a review of the show. It was a mostly positive review but their was some stuff in there I wanted to press him on. I did the interview, it was fun, it got a decent respond.

A few months later, Lightning Bolt was released, and I wanted to find a cool way to talk about Pearl Jam on a show mostly about sports. We veer off into Pop Culture occasionally but usually because of some sports tie in. I was listening to Howard Stern one day and they were talking about "super fans." I thought it might be cool to reach out to people in the sports world who are known as Pearl Jam fans and start a PJ Super Fan series on the podcast.

A few weeks ago AJ Daulerio the former editor of Deadspin and Gawker was the first person to do a Pearl Jam super fan interview. You can check that out here:

Today, we took the PJ super fan series to another level. The 1993 Cy Young winner Jack McDowell was on the podcast. Jack is a long time PJ fan and has some crazy stuff to share:

-Jack's ex wife was roommates with Ed's ex wife and that is how he met Pearl Jam.
-He recounts the night he got in a bar fight with Eddie Vedder in New Orleans
-He talks about the time he and Ed tricked a writer into thinking Ed was a minor league call up
- He talks about playing on stage with the band in Tampa

As a huge Pearl Jam fan myself it was an incredibly candid interview.
