he's my favorite musican in this band, followed closely by Stone. he displays a wise and tasteful understanding of his intrument within a song's context which is, to me, way more important than being technically good. that's not to say that there aren't instances when he really shines and i'm really glad that he's to the forefront on many songs off LB. i'll take a great bassline over a great guitar solo any day of the week because a song just won't be as good without a nice bass groove while guitar solos are a plus but hardly necessary.

Wow, he played bass on DTE as well, I love those basslines. Interesting.

Jeff's an OK bass player. Nothing really special. He's the least talented at his instrument in the band for sure. I think he excels most at finding interesting tones more than being a player with the fastest fingers or greatest technique. As much as this might pain some of you, some of his best work is Backspacer. He's pretty locked in with the kick on that record.

I'm really into Jeff Ament's work with Pearl Jam and Three Fish. Yellow Moon, Low Light, Present Tense, all of Binaural and Ten stand out in my mind. Oceans, Elusive Ones and Pendulum are other excellent songs.
