When you mix alcohol and a big ego together in front of 20,000 people, fucked up shit can and will happen!!!!!!
it's usually small egos (low self esteems) that end in fucked up behaviour mixed with alcohol.
Oh wow, I have seen so many examples of the opposite.

At the end of the day here, Eddie is no different that the names I am going to list below.

Axl Rose

James Hetfield
Dave Mustaine
Pete Townsend
Billie Joe Armstrong
Josh Homme
Glen Frey & Don Henley

Only difference here with Eddie is that loves to snow PJ fans on how cool he is by not acting like the ones above, but he does, in spades.

It's Rock & Roll, and these frontman along with others have giant egos the size of this fucking planet!

Anders wrote: Had the band chosen a different singer in 1990, they probably still would have been famous, they are that good. But Pearl Jam has a lot to do with Eddie Vedder. If he's in top creative form, the product will be good. If he is not, it won't. I don't see how any Pearl Jam fans can deny his contribution and effort in being an integral and vital part of making some of our favorite music. The fact the Eddie had a huge say in Vitalogy, and probably even more in making No Code, is not a negative. That's a positive.
I disagree because they were looking for more than someone to sing on a bunch of songs. Do i think they needed Ed to make it big? No, but they needed someone with skills and talents similar to his. It's a complex issue. I think they always needed someone to turn "ideas" into songs to be able to release albums with a normal frequency. It's silly to argue any of them can't write a song, mostly because it's not difficult do begin with. I think that if either Stone or Jeff had the skills to tell the rest of the band what to play they would have done exactly what Ed did, they even had the legitimacy do to so.
This is just my opinion BTW, i don't have the arogance to think my impression is wrong.

Anders wrote:I disagree. If any other member of the band had done what Eddie did here, they would have received at least as much negativity hurled at them.
I completely agree. But if Ed made a comment like Jeff's on any album he'd be called an asshole for it. Btw I'm not bothered with any of them making negative comments about any of their albums, i'd just appreciate they'd stick with for at least a whole interview or don't make it sound as if they're making us a favour by trying to like it because someone told them those albums aren't actually bad.

On second thought you're right in the sense that a big ego is usually hiding a low self-esteem.

Imagine how horrible it must have been for poor Ricky Ramone to have resisted for 17 years with Ed. The man is a true hero. I mean i don't see any other plausible explanation for him to have resisted that long. We know that it's safe to assume Ed's a complete asshole all the time so it is safe to exclude it's generally a decent job working for Ed or PJ. And let's be honest 17 years isn't that long.

I think he had that response written and was waiting for a post to attach it to, and when a good one didn't pop up, he just attached it to the next one to come up.

I guess Tina wouldn't be a bad addition to that list either. I've seen a couple of clips of her being angry at crew members during concerts, Ed looks discreet in comparison.

What percentage of Pearl Jam fans think the moral of Better Man is "Well, I mean, she stayed with him, so obviously he's not that bad. We all have bad days. Some people straight up kill their wives, so it could be worse..."?
