Richard's send off was beautiful, For all he went through, the "his versions of heaven" was good. I will miss the character. Who would of thunk, some guy in a hopsital in chicago who was only suppose to be in a few season 1 episodes would last 4 seasons and be so good.

You know what would be cool? If they did a companion series from the point when Jimmy Dies, but just if it had been Jimmy who killed Nucky.

"Boardwalk Empire" Will End This Year With Its Fifth Season
By Jason Serafino | Jan 9, 2014

At the Television Critics Association press tour, an official announcement from HBO was made confirming that this year’s upcoming fifth season of Boardwalk Empire will be the show’s last, according to Entertainment Weekly. This news comes off of strong reviews for the fourth season, which wrapped up on November 24, 2013. The fifth season is expected to air later this fall.

“It has been an incredible honor to bring this powerful and groundbreaking series to our subscribers,” said Michael Lombardo, president of programming at HBO. “Terry Winter has created one for the ages.”

If you were concerned that the show wouldn’t go out on its own terms, Winter dispelled that notion by adding: “We’re thrilled to get the go-ahead for a fifth season of Boardwalk Empire. After much discussion with my creative team and HBO, we’ve decided to wrap up the series after such a great run and look forward to bringing it to a powerful and exciting conclusion.”

Have you seen the rumours that they were planning to do more with Jimmy but Michael Pitt was awful to work with?

It's a shame because the Jimmy/Nucky relationship was the most interesting part of the series to me, I wish they did more with it.

Just finished the last ep. Fuckin wild ride. After such a quality season, I don't want the series to end this soon.

Ah yes. Another reason to get HBO. I've only seen the first season.

I'm four episodes into season 2. Owen Sleater is already my favorite character from the show.

He really does.

Spoiler: show
And It made it a little harder to watch last season. He provided a true villain, more so that Jeffery Wright. It provided a nice central focus to a show that often tends to meander a bit too much into all it's side stores.

I thought 4 was the best since 1. I've gotta go back and watch this from the start again some day.

4 wasn't bad or anything, but frankly I think Boardwalk has suffered from either killing or neutering too many of its characters, and replacing them with less interesting ones. Realistically I think the best character at the end of 3 was Lucky Luciano, and really wanted to see more of his story and he was what, in 3 scenes in season 4? 4 was well acted, and I enjoyed most of the story lines, but i just thought the show really benefited in 3 from a central focus villain.
