The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
i quit this book.
Why?
the girl characters weren't sexy enough
i think it was really about the guy, in this case.
It's uneven, for sure. No where near as good as Gatsby. Not even the same galaxy. But I'm enjoying it. The tedious parts are easily forgiven because the strong scenes are powerful enough to lift the narrative high enough that they become specks on the larger landscape. Not a great book. Not a classic. But fine, and an enjoyable read with plenty of lovely language.

I just wish I had more time to read right now. I should have finished this fucker a while ago.

For the Philip Roth fans... I've only read Human Stain, which I loved. Which one should I tackle next?

After every time I read F. Scott, I never want to eat or drink anything. His people are always lunching.

See, I'm the opposite. I just want to drink absinthe and eat cucumber sandwiches.

Prom. 2005. That was a nerve-wracking night for a man who can't dance.

And I only dance to one song in public.

Let me guess: the song is I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith. And that lucky lady was Lena Dunham.

I read this tweet. And something about it reminded me of you, Orson:

How do you feel about tattoos on girls? I like maybe one or two, but the large arm sleeve tattoos are just not my thing. But a lot of guys like them.

I'm sorry. This is a book thread.

As long as there's something good to read, I'm fine with tattoos.
