Re: The Work-Out Thread
As the weights get heavier, swimming gets harder. But if I can keep this up until Christmas I'll be in a good place. Body fat is down nearly 4% in 4 weeks, muscle mass is up a 2%. Just have to slog through. On a positive note, just had a run oof 4 hockey games and a concert to see over 9 nights. That was four nights and mornings I didn't ride my bike. So glad this is back to normal starting with my ride home. I missed my bike. My bike is a good buddy.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Cool, crisp morning. Arthritis was pretty nasty when I woke up, but once I got moving I hardly noticed it. I brought no water, opting for two chugs at water fountains instead. Ate a gel at the turnaround without water, which was a stupid fucking thing to do. I also pissed behind a bush. Faded a bit at the end. 68 out. 69 back with a pathetic finishing kick.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Had a really good work out tonight, did my lifting first and feel like i had my best night of lifting. I went with less weight tonight and it helped my keep my form and i think i will feel everything like i should. Did 3 sets on each of the chest machines, 3 sets of crunches, 3 sets on one of the shoulder machines, 2 sets in each direction on the machine where you kneel on the seat and twist your lower body, 2 sets of rows and 2 sets of pull downs. After all that it was again tough to run very far, but i ran 1.25 miles and total with walking i went 1.41 in 16 minutes.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Just finished a 12 minute Kettlebell workout. Haven't done one in a month or so. I normally would have shot for 20-25 min but there's something seriously wrong with my left arm. To the point where I might go to the doctor...and I don't do doctors.

Hit the gym for a quick one last night. Got a good workout in Monday but doubled up since it'll be a few days before I get back in. I took the cardio & core class followed by some upper body work. Now a bit of a break.

When we walked into the y last night they asked if we wanted to enter a contest where you weigh in and if you either lose weight or stay the same after thanksgiving then you could win something, i told them no because i was planning to gain weight on thanksgivingBiff Pocoroba wrote:Hit the gym for a quick one last night. Re: The Work-Out Thread
Thanksgiving has never been that big of a deal to me. Between having a light appetite & being a picky eater I don't gorge myself at the table. The family I see at Thanksgiving is the family I see throughout the year as well. And it's not even a long weekend for me, I've always had to work Thanksgiving Friday. Which I don't mind since it's one of the easiest days of the year. The Monday after though is usually rough.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:When we walked into the y last night they asked if we wanted to enter a contest where you weigh in and if you either lose weight or stay the same after thanksgiving then you could win something, i told them no because i was planning to gain weight on thanksgiving

Finally a mtn bike ride home with a bit of swagger to it last night. It's fun to scare yourself. A kickass ride in this morning and snowboarding tomorrow. I love this time of year.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Ended up doing two 10-milers yesterday. Ran one with my tri friend early, then ran another one with the wife and kids about noon when they decided to go for a bike ride.
My tri friend is a little slower than me, so he asked me to pull him along for a sub-70. We finished in 68, which was apparently a PR for him.
The other run was slow, because the wife had the baby seat on her bike, I had the running stroller with my son and my oldest daughter is slow.
Weather is just spectacular right now. Gonna hit the trail tomorrow and Sunday.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Was very ready to hit the gym this morning for the first time since Tuesday evening. A slow start but got into the flow. Hit the weights first followed by just over two miles on treadmill and then re-visited the upper body for a few brief excercises. Felt great afterwards, think I may go back tomorrow.
Light crowd working out. In part because of Thanksgiving weekend but also because we're getting into one of more slow times at the gym. This is when you find out who the faithfull, year round clients are.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Because I ran the Fifth Avenue mile in 6:25, NYRR thinks I'm that fast all the time. So now I'm in the elite coral for every race I run! Thing is, I haven't earned the honor. I feel like a sham.

Another fucking silver in my age group at the 5k today. Ran with a sore shoulder..... slowed me to a 20:06.....just not good enough. I'm planning on hitting it pretty hard this winter, team.

Desert trail run. 70 degrees with a cool breeze. Perfect running weather. Wore my Camelbak for the first time in a couple of years. I was in no hurry and just enjoyed the hell out of myself. Great run.

Doubled up & went back to the gym today. Knocked up my weights a bit & pulled back a little on the treadmill compared to yesterday. Felt great!

Re: The Work-Out Thread
I was planning on just doing cardio tonight so i planned to run as long as i could, didn't run too fast, most of the way i was at 5.5mph and i found out that the machines at the ymca automatically put you into a cool down at 30 minutes
, i felt like i could have gone for 35 minutes, but i finished with walking at 2.81 miles in 33 minutes. After that i felt like i still had some energy so i worked on the leg machines for the first time. 2 sets of seated leg press, 3 sets leg extensions, 3 sets of leg curls and 2 sets of calf extensions.
My legs will probably be dead tomorrow
