I was hoping the next live release would be from '72-'75, but I'll take it!

Yeah I was kinda hoping for something Electric from NY & Crazy Horse after seeing them a year and 10 days ago today... not something from this last batch of tours, just something from NY & Crazy Horse...

but that looks like a cool release... Cinnamon Girl on organ? interesting

It's like Neil wrote a Wipers song.

This version is so good! I gotta say the version of Flying on the Ground on this is worth the price of admission alone. That coupled with this version of Cinnamon Girl, and the first ever live version of Old Man makes this disc a must have! The whole thing sounds so great...

Speaking of Cellar Door. Some interesting reading if you guys get a chance: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellar_door

These archival recordings have really opened me up to Neil Young. I started with the Crazy Horse show at the filmore, which I listened all the time still, possibly one of the best things I ever heard was the version of Cowgirl in the Sand from that show. I then went to Massey Hall which was amazing. I wasn't crazy about the Canterbary show, but I really wanna hear this one.

Crazy Horse Reschedules Europe Concerts!? + New Neil Young Album Recorded @ Jack White's "Third Man" Label
Some major Neil Young news via bh @ BNB
Scott @ NYAS reports:
Confirmation that Neil's next album was recorded in Jack White's record booth.

It should be out sometime in the new year. I don't know its release details but would be surprised if it's only available via Third Man. But this is Neil, so who knows. I anticipate this will be a very big seller. It is an album of covers. In it, as anticipated, he pays tribute to other renowned singer-songwriters. There are 12 tracks on it. There are no Neil Young originals, but...each side starts with an introduction (part 1, part 2) of the same title. That could be a Neil Young original although I have another theory on what these might be... A couple of the songs chosen will astonish you. Sorry for the secrecy but more on this might leak soon...

Ralf speculates:
I guess the regular Album will be released by Warner/Reprise but Jack Whites "Third Man" label will release exclusive a special edition of twelve 6" vinyl 111 seconds copies which were cut directly in the booth. This wouldn't affect Neil's contract with Warner. Perhaps it will also be the start of Neil's PONO system.

I've never heard that argument about Neil's ears before...and yeah, it's compelling. I never, ever considered even considered thinking about buying a Pono player, but I hope Neil keeps putting out great-sounding records. (The one thing that seriously bugs me is that the time that's gone into this hasn't gone into more Archives releases or into new music.)
